“Fantastic Villa in a beautiful part of Spain”
Reviewed 6 October 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Beautiful villa with stunning views of Andulusia and close to two very authentic Spanish towns, this is the real Spain and not the typical tourist trap. The Villa had all the home comforts required and a few more, very good wireless internet, very large flat screen LCD TV for the colder evenings and other little touches like the coffee machine ( we liked it so much we bought one on return to England). The Villa is very spacious with excellent outside space including a good quality gas BBQ which we used nearly every day as we enjoyed staying in the Villa so much we only ate out a few evenings even though the restaurants near by were very good and extremely reasonable. The whole process was very good from the initial booking to the meet and greet and the whole team who look after the villa are excellent, never seen a gardener work so hard. Thank you for the use of the Villa, hopefully we will return one day.

Liked best: the view and the living areas
Liked least: the bath could do with a hand rail as my wife slipped, the water supply is hit and miss.

“A lovely house for a blissful holiday”
Reviewed 18 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We have just enjoyed a fantastic holiday at Casa Deogracias and are delighted to say that it was even nicer than it already looks on the website. From the start to the finish everything was perfect. .
Yes, the road up to Sedella is windy but it is a delightful drive through the stunning National Park. Considering it's only an hour from the airport, the sense of peace and tranquility, let alone the amazing view from the huge pool, is well worth the drive.. As a bonus you can even see the Med through the hills in the distance.
The house itself is clean and unfussy in a very tasteful way, with every modern convenience you could need. Huge American style fridge ( very useful if, like us, you don't want to have to stock up more than absolutely necessary and waste valuable holiday time!), and a great entertainment system with loads of Blu rays/ DVDs for those nights you don't want to go out to eat. The local villages (quintessential "Pueblo Blancos") are not far way, when you do want to visit a local restaurant .
A special mention must go out to Jeanne & Rob who look after the place. They bent over backwards to make sure we had a great experience, and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was almost like having our very own concierge service!
All in all we could not recommend Casa Deogracias more highly.

“Lovely villa, great scenery and very relaxing”
Reviewed 12 September 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Villa is lovely. There are gardens and terraces on all sides, all completely private and well furnished so we were able to sit out all day moving from sun to shade as necessary. It was great having a pool big enough to swim lengths in and the views of La Maroma from the pool and veranda are fantastic.
The evenings in early May were a bit cool so we took advantage of the wood burning stove while we made use of the satellite TV, DVD player, surround sound system and t'internet.
Restaurants in both Sedella and Canillas de Aceituno were very good and great value for money.
Would love to stay here again.

“Nice location but villa needs tidying up”
Reviewed 10 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We booked this villa for our twins 30th birthday. We also had in our party a toddler and a baby.
There was only one travel cot available but Maria kindly purchased a second one for our use. She also accommodated us arriving on a Sunday, rather than a Saturday.
The villa is in a lovely location with amazing views and sunsets.
However, when we arrived at the villa we were disappointed with the patio and pool area. They were very dirty with garden debris and collections of dog hair. My son in law had to sweep the whole area before we could use it. Just by the gate were several heaps of dog poo. We were met at the villa by Jeanne. She said that they were having problems with the pool and that if it became more cloudy or green we should ring her - a little disconcerting as we had two babies with us. The pool water was quite cloudy at that point.
Inside the villa it seemed quite dusty and dirty. The rugs had to be vacuumed as they appeared to be covered with dog hair and dust. In the corners of the rooms and under the beds and furniture there was a layer of dust and dirt.
In the kitchen, the tap was very difficult to turn off and on. Almost all of the cups were chipped. The light fittings were festooned with cobwebs. The vanity unit in the main bathroom looked as though it had been chewed by some animal and the back of the ensuite door had scratches on it, presumably again made by an animal being shut in there. The front door handle came off in our hands every time we used it! There were bare wires coming out of the wall in the living room.
My husband developed an itchy raised rash all over his body when he went into the pool on the second day. Jeanne came and said it might be the chlorine. She tested the water and put some more chemicals in, however, her admission that she " didn't really know" what she was doing didn't inspire us with confidence. She returned on the Friday with her son in law and he made a very good job of cleaning the pool, especially the bottom, which was filthy!
The villa is described as child friendly but there are quite serious drop offs down the mountain from the garden and the pool. We moved some large plant pots to block these areas off.
For the second week we had a mouse in residence in one of the bedrooms!
Some positives - the locations and views from this villa are stunning. The plants and gardens are beautiful and the very friendly gardener gave us a tub of freshly picked figs and tomatoes which were delicious.
This villa would be so much better if a little attention was paid to it. We have raised these issues with the owner but received a very aggressive email back from her so I am not confident that any improvements will be made. She even accused us of lying!

Management Response
13 Sep 2013
We try to do our best to make all our guests happy and are sorry in this instance you had a poor experience. This is our first bad review in 3 years so we take it very seriously.
We can only apologise for dust found in corners or under beds. The cleaners have always done a very good job as far as we can tell, but we will pass on your comments to them and strive to do better. As for being covered in dog hair, it would have been helpful if you could have backed this up with a picture as you've done to illustrate your other grievances.
The picture of dog poo you've used is I'm afraid from somewhere outside of our garden, as is obvious from the background. Unfortunately, during the course of the summer, things get damaged & worn. Moving sun beds, umbrellas, etc can cause paint to chip & fall. We try to address these issues as soon as is practical. The damage to the paint work in the bathroom is also likely to be the result of wear & tear, and as far as we can tell not caused by some animal as you suggest. We are happy to report that there is now no sign of the mouse you say took up residence in your 2nd week.
Crockery & cups inevitably get chipped, & glasses broken, & are replaced by us every year. We can confirm that there are more than enough unchipped ones to use. The wires in your photo are high on the wall above the front door, meant for the future addition of a doorbell, & not live.
As for the pool causing you injury, by your own admission, no one else in your party had any such reaction. Combined with the fact that the chemicals added to the pool are part of the normal cleaning/maintenance procedure, we're confident that the pool is safe to use. From the picture you have posted it is hard to agree it was filthy, and both Jeanne & the pool cleaner dispute your version of events.
We are dismayed that you feel our responses to your numerous emails were aggressive, particularly as, in one of your emails your son called me a "fool" & a "bitch".
