“Peace and quiet”
Reviewed 17 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

A great cabin with everything you need in good condition. Easy to find considering it's remote location. Had a little trouble booking which may have been a problem with my equipment, in any case this was soon sorted by Reuben.
The cabin is situated as described with some great walks and the local scenery breathtaking. There are plenty of leaflets in the cabin on local attractions, there is something for everybody or just put your feet up.
Everything you need at a great price.

Thanks for your review, I really appreciate it. The booking system on Holiday Lettings is new and it's actually best to just email me via the website, as the calendar changes daily. It was a pleasure accommodating you. All the best, Reuben.

“Lovely remote getaway, can't wait to go back!!”
Reviewed 4 November 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Stated up at this cabin for a little holiday with my boyfriend for a week. The cabin was perfect for our needs as it was a remote getaway. An added bonus was amazing sunrises over the loch outside every morning.

My favorite thing to do there was get fresh, local seafood in the fishing village of Oban, and cook it at the cabin while having the view of the loch right outside the kitchen. We also took hikes to waterfalls and through dense forest. I think next time well be bringing bikes as there were many biking trails to try out. My boyfriend and I can't wait to plan another trip up here!

Yes, Oban is the seafood capital of Scotland and there is nothing better than dining al fresco on the balcony when the weather is good. I'm very happy you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the time to write a review. Please visit again!

“Lovely Quiet Week Away”
Reviewed 25 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

After a long drive from Manchester we arrived in the remote town of Delavich and made our way to the Kilchurn Log Cabin. We had seen the photos but they don't do it justice. Set about 20 feet from the shore of Loch Awe with breathtaking views of the Scottish Highlands it is exactly what we wanted for a nice quiet week away from everything. When we did get a bit lonely there was always the family of ducks who stopped by every day for a bit of bread.

The cabin has everything needed, cooker, plates, microwave, toaster etc... and wood for the wood burning stove which makes the place warm and cosy at night. The keyholder Irene is on hand should you need any help and is happy to offer information on the local area if you need it.

There are some great country roads around the cabin leading to small villages such as Kilmelford which is worth a visit and is about 45 minutes from the main town of Oban which has lots to offer, a tour of Oban Distillery is a must as well as sampling the local fish and chips. We also had an excellent curry there.

All in all an excellent week away and we would certainly stay there again.

Not forgetting the haggis and chips at the Dalavich shop! Thanks for your review, the view from the cabin really is the best. Sometimes the water rises to only a few feet from the balcony and you can literally go fishing from the decking. Please visit again! Reuben.

“Perfect getaway!”
Reviewed 21 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

My husband and I went to the cabin for our first wedding anniversary and it was absolutely perfect! The cabin itself is in a wonderful location, right on the loch shore and secluded from the neighbouring cabins. It is simply furnished but is well equipped and had everything we needed. The wood-burning stove was great, in fact at one point it was so good that I had to go outside to cool down! Booking the cabin and picking up the keys were very straightforward, we arrived late at night in the pitch black and rain, and still managed to find it OK (just about!!).
Dinner at the social club was great, and the full breakfast at the cafe/shop in Dalavich was very filling! We also ate at the two nearest pubs, one in Kilchrenan (20min drive and good pub food) and one in Kilmelford (30min drive and excellent food). The best way to eat by far is a BBQ on the balcony, which we managed to do on the one night that it didn't rain, and thankfully having gone well equipped for fighting off the midges, we didn't encounter a single one!
There are lots of good walking trails nearby, Kilchurn Castle is well worth a visit (free), as is Cruachan hydro-electric power station. The Inverawe smokery has a nice cafe, nature trail and shop and it is a pleasant walk from there to the Bonawe Furnace in Taynuilt. Oban is good for a day out (McCaigs Tower, Distillery, Pulpit Hill, seafood on the dock-side and various boat trips).
Overall it was a fabulous week away, thanks Reuben!

Very impressed by your activity in the area! The cabin is so secluded that sometimes it's difficult to find in the dark. As per your suggestion, I've added a sign next to the road that says 19! Hopefully it will survive the winter.
Thanks for your lovely review, please come back soon. Reuben

“CANT WAIT TO VISIT AGAIN”
Reviewed 21 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We visited the cabin in July, it was a last minute attempt to get away from everyone and everything and it was just perfect. The amenities at the cabin are more than adequate although we couldn't work out how to get the wood burner going (too use to flicking a switch) luckily we didn't need it as it was warm enough.
We had a 14 and 6 year old with us and thought we would have to listen to how bored they were but they loved it, it really was brill to get away from the computers and games and play the board games and cards provided in the cabin, quality time. The 6 year old was in love with the ducks that come up to the cabin as soon as you open the doors.
We ate at the restaurant on the site the food was excellent as were the locals who made us feel very welcome. Irene who we picked the keys up from was lovely.
It is breathtaking how fantastic the scenery is and even more so in the evening with the sun reflecting off the loch its a wee peace of heaven there.!!!
