“Luxury, privacy, tranquility, freshwater pool and panoramic beauty”

Quinta do Acor is a truly stunning, luxurious place and we had a fantastic holiday there. It definitely has the “wow” factor! We were welcomed and showed around by the lovely Lucy who was extremely helpful and friendly. The house and grounds are spacious and absolutely beautiful with a private swimming pool with mountain views and lots of secluded places to sit, relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. It is an idyllic place in which to unwind and enjoy nature whilst also taking advantage of the comforts of modern life such as the internet, English TV, films etc.

We found it spotlessly clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. Everything has been so well thought out with great attention to detail. I enjoy cooking so having a choice of kitchens was brilliant. There is the spacious, well equipped kitchen in the main house plus the outside kitchen which has a pizza oven plus its own fridge, BBQ and dishwasher. It was also lovely to be able to pick organic tomatoes, peppers and herbs straight from the garden.

We loved sitting in the garden in the morning with a cup of tea, watching and listening to a variety of birds who also seem to love the quinta and as we had a hot, sunny week, we enjoyed swimming in the pool whilst taking in the beautiful mountain views.

The solar lights give the quinta a magical feel at night and having our own private bar was an absolute treat! We spent several evenings enjoying a drink, listening to music and playing pool then off to bed for a sound nights sleep in the comfy beds.

As Quinta Do Acor is so tranquil and comfortable, it would have been very easy not to have ventured outside of the grounds at all during our holiday. However, we wanted to explore the area and also put the Portuguese that we are learning into practice. Quinta Do Acor is perfectly situated, being private and secluded yet less than a 10 minute stroll into the pretty village of Pousadouros where there is a welcoming little cafe serving coffee, tea, beer and wine. Arganil with its shops, banks and supermarkets is an easy 10 minute drive and we also really enjoyed a day out at the beautiful Secarias river beach which is about a 15 minute walk or a couple of minutes in the car.

We would definitely stay at Quinta Do Acor again. Whether you are a couple, small family or bigger group, Quinta Do Acor is an amazing place for a holiday!

Thank you Tanya for the review . I am very happy you had such good time outside of our normal holiday season .
A lot of people don't realise how good the weather is up here in the Autumn and how sunny it can be during the winter days.
Its good to know that you used the bread oven and picked our produce , we are starting to grow more and more that will be of use right through the seasons and Lucy and Kaz and Emily who look after the gardens really put a lot of effort into gardening organically .
I am glad you found the little cafe hidden away up in the village its a great place to walk to grab a coffee tea or beer and they can get you fresh bread if you order it .
The villagers are keen to talk to you if you can try a bit of Portuguese as I am sure you found out!
Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at our beautiful villa another time

“A Magical Christmas in this Enchanted Villa”
Reviewed 17 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Very much looking forward to our up and coming stay at this beautiful enchanted villa for our second christmas in a row !! We have never been back to the exact same place twice, but after spending our last Christmas and New Year there, we just knew, if we could, we had to do it again this year !! We'd seen the pictures online before we arrived last year, but really, they just couldn't do it justice. The property and grounds were just staggering... the sort of thing you see in the movies, but don't generally get to experience in real life. We were just blown away by all the thought and attention to detail that had obviously gone into so many parts of this amazing place. Too much to mention here, but from the welcome pack and the "meet and greet" from the wonderful Lucy, who is just a wealth of knowledge and so helpful. To the amazing array of beautifully arranged solar lights around the gardens and walkways that came to life after the sun went down and lit our way to our favourite night time spot... The Bar !! (More about this later !) The huge smart TV with "English channels" amongst many others, The rooms were all immaculate, as were the bathrooms. The kitchen which has everything you could ever need... (Apart from the food of course..) and then there's the wonderful outside kitchen, with it's own fridge, crockery cutlery and dishwasher !! Perfect !! Anyway, back to the bar... This is not just a bar, its your very own pub !! It has a wonderful pool table, sound system that you can plug phone's, ipod's etc.. into and play any music you like and as loud as you like with no complaints from any neighbours... Because there aren't any !! Our favourite nights were cooking and eating in the outside kitchen, (we got very good at cooking all sorts of things in that lovely wood fired oven !!) and after we would retire to the bar for drinks and pool or chess tournaments and sometimes break out one of the many board games provided and find ourselves giggling on into the night with no interruptions at all.. Wonderful !!
The weather last year was just lovely, sunny warm days. December and we were sipping cocktails around the pool, made in our bar, doors open and chilled music playing with such idyllic views... Kind of changed our idea of what christmas could be !! We found lots of places to eat not too far away and an "English Pub" that served English food and beers... Which, when we felt like it, made us feel even more at home ... We selfishly didn't write a review last year in case anyone else beat us across the line and rented it this christmas... Thankfully we have secured it and I just had another look online and thought we should probably share our experience... Rather begrudgingly incase it scuppers our future bookings, but oh well, 'tis the season to be jolly and goodwill to all men and all that..... Bah Humbug !!!
Seriously though, can't recommend Quinta do Acor highly enough. For us, it's a surreal slice of heaven that we can't believe we stumbled across.
Merry Christmas !! We can't wait !!

Dear Nick thanks for the review for last year and this pre Christmas review . I am sure you will love it again there are more lights up the kiwi trees have fruited and i have got some olive roots and cherry wood for the bread oven.
There is also a good supply of oak if you fancy lighting the woodburner in the bar but with the weather we have had so far (it was 26 degrees c and more this week) I don't think you will need to until the evenings.
I Don't know what you did last year but I have found a Dutch man rearing organic free range turkeys if you would like one just get in touch and I can order one for you.
Maybe you could try the slow cooked turkey in the bread oven recipe nobody has tried yet at the villa to my knowledge!
We look forward to having you back and we hope you have a great time.
Thank you
Clive

“Absolutely gorgeous!”
Reviewed 5 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Quinta do Açor is, without doubt, the holiday villa we have spent the last 20+ years searching for around Europe and the Mediterranean! Quiet, peaceful and secluded, it is so far removed from the typical ‘resort’ scenario as to be an absolute delight. We loved everything about it!
Bordering on luxurious, the house itself is equipped with everything that we could have envisaged being needed, and the normal “essentials” that we bring along because they’re never there remained in the suitcase. Outside, the pool and air-conditioned bar/games room offer a gentle respite from the heat, and the courtyard kitchen with its pizza oven and excellent barbecue were an absolute joy, especially in the evenings.
It was actually something of a wrench to drag ourselves away from the villa to explore the local countryside! But once we did, we were amazed by the beauty of the rivers and mountains. Coja and Góis fast became favourites, and Arganil provided everything we could possibly need in terms of supplies.
Clive’s local helpers (garden, housekeeping, etc.) were unobtrusive, helpful and knowledgeable, and provided a wealth of information and tips about the local scene. The hardest things about the holiday were probably deciding which of the villa’s numerous eating areas to use on any given evening, and whether to sunbathe around the pool or on the big first floor terrace!
So much more to explore! We will be back, without a doubt (but no sharing with others Clive :-)!

“Beautiful villa, idyllic location”
Reviewed 6 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

What a beautiful, idyllic place for a holiday - Clive and Philly have created an amazingly spacious villa with huge gardens and so much lovely outdoor space to enjoy. We spent happy days by the pool and evenings making use of the pizza oven and barbecue before wandering through the beautifully lit gardens watching the sun set over the mountains. The separate party house complete with a well stocked bar, pool table & various games is a winner too!

The local area is stunning, with miles of mountain trails to explore and the local towns of Arganil, Coja and Góis are well worth a look.

Our toddler enjoyed the pool and the warm welcome he got from locals wherever he went. We found lots of nice places to eat, be it pastel de nata with morning coffee in Coja or dinner by the river two minutes from the villa.

If you want a peaceful holiday off the beaten tourist track I cannot recommend it highly enough.
