We have been to over 20 Caribbean / Pacific Islands, and have stayed in all types of condos and guest houses. Although Bunkum Beach House is not the most luxurious place we've stayed in, it was spacious, clean, and beautiful in its simple quaintness... and the view!!! The caretaker, Sun, was always there when we needed her, without being intrusive. About every other day, she did our laundry, swept the condo clean, changed the sheets, and added those extra touches, like fresh cut flowers from the gardens. While doing all of this for us, she even took the time to talk to our very inquisitive son. I still think about Montserrat every day. It is an island that stays in your heart, and Bunkum Beach House is a place that you will return to :) :) :)

We just needed to get away to some place low key and beautiful and found Bunkum Beach Guest House online. By the first email response we knew this place was going to be perfect.
Sun, who runs the property quickly jumped into host mode and was helpful right from the start providing details to our questions about renting a jeep, what to bring, things to do, basically any answer to help make our stay effortless.
This is the one property that has a kitchen that the guests can use which was a huge plus. The house is like a wonderful California open style layout with thoughtful landscaping surrounding the house and fresh flowers placed indoors.
The pool is beautiful and the outdoor patio where we breakfast every morning has an endless view of the ocean - giving the illusion that you are floating on water every morning.
This is real door to door service Sun picked us up at the small airport, took us to the ATM, the grocery store, since she had already arranged to have our jeep ready for us all that was left was to get our local driver's license which with her help took 5 minutes. We felt very welcome. The house has 3 comfortable rooms - two in the main house where we stayed and one in the Guest House next to the pool. And lots of closet space. You truly feel relaxed and like you have a home away from home. Word of advice, if you can come with little luggage - do it! Even a back pack would be enough, the smaller airplanes aren't a match for tons of luggage. The island of Montserrat has the nicest people ever and you soon fall into the rhythm of life there. One day we took a hike Sun suggested that we would not have found on our own, another day at the Volcano Center, another exploring the beach (the 2 best beaches book end her property) and another day a boat trip she set up for us which was actually a great way to get to know the island from the water. We will definitely go back and are so glad to discover Bunkum Beach Guest house. Stay there!!
