“AN ULSTER GEM!”

We've just returned from another fabulous holiday at Knockavallen Lodge and thankfully everything is of the previous high standards. (See my earlier review of July 2011 for full details). It's situation is perfect for touring or as a cosy hideaway. Although rural, there are places of interest just a few miles in all directions.
Within one mile of the Lodge, Dervock village has a Centra supermarket and filling station, HotCha, which is a good Chinese takeaway and the Mill Tearoom.
If you're looking for first class accommodation with friendly and helpful hosts and easy access to the amazing Causeway Coast then look no further than Knockavallen Lodge - it's a wee jewel!

“Brilliant Base To See County Antrim.”
Reviewed 5 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

A most enjoyable holiday. We normally take a lazy beach holiday abroad but wanted a more activity based holiday with cycles and canoe, which we were perfectly able to accomplish at Christine and James' lodge. Accomodation was as good as everyone has already so eloquently stated here.

The owners were so accomodating giving us the space in their garage to park our two bikes and the accomodation was an excellent base to see this beautiful part of N.I.

“Beautiful apartment in a quiet location”
Reviewed 2 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

This was a most welcoming apartment, equipped with everything we needed, including wi-fi.It was immaculately clean and the owners accomodated our every need. It was extremely relaxing. Although set in a rural location it was very handy for the coast with its beautiful atttactions, the most famous being the Giants Causeway. The hotel there served an excellent lunch! There is so much to see and do, so plan ahead if you can.
The scenery is breathtaking with an abundance of wildlife. The beaches are stunning and some have lifeguards. Everyone we met was very friendly.
We would not hesiate in recommending this apartment and although the weather could have been better we had an excellent holiday.

“It doesn't get better than this”

We - a family with two small kids - made Knockavallen Lodge the base for our yearly trip to Antrim and in 2012 we returned for the 5th time. The 2 bedroom apartment suits our needs perfectly and the fact that the property is well off any road makes it perfect if you are traveling with kids.
The location is also perfect for exploring the Antrim Coast & Glens as well as other parts of Ulster. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hotspots, so it's nice and quiet, but all major attractions are quick and easy to reach: Giant's Causeway for example is only a 10 minute drive away.
During our regular stays the apartment has regularly been upgraded and improved and the owners are always there to help should any problems arise.

“KNOCKAVALLEN LODGE HAS IT ALL!”
Reviewed 8 August 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Christine was already in the garden watching for our arrival and gave us such a warm welcome at the beginning of our one-week stay. The Lodge is superb - bright and spacious, comfortable and cosy and everything you could possibly require is provided. This is the perfect place for couples or families, for touring, walking, hiking or simply getting away from it all. Ideal for a romantic hideaway and it would be possible to spend a few days or an entire week here just relaxing, sitting in the private garden and lazing around. Equally, a great place for touring as there are so many picturesque villages and historic places almost on the doorstep.

Christine has compiled a very detailed folder giving info on local and not-so-local places, events, restaurants, etc. and an additional bonus is that she and James live "on the premises" so are readily available should any assistance/advice be required.

Despite being a working farm, it's peaceful, tranquil and with magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. Although we did not avail ourselves of the opportunity, children are bound to love learning about and helping with the animals.

A wonderful holiday retreat/chill-out at any time of year but if you cannot bear to be separated from your laptop a good wi-fi connection is readily available. This is probably the best-ever self-catering accommodation we've stayed in and we have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it.
