We stayed for one week at this beautiful place and really enjoyed it! Annie, the owner, is a great host. She is very friendly and always helpful as we needed some tips for the island. The bedrooms were very nice and clean. From the spacious living room you have a beautiful view and a direct access to the terracce and the pool. If you decide to stay there be aware that you will need a rental car (SUV) which makes it easier to get to this place. We can recommend this place to everyone who is looking for something special and an alternative to all the hotels on the island!

“Relaxing location”

We spent 10 days at Summer Breeze and had a wonderfully relaxing time. We were met by Ann, who manages the property, she was able to show us the way to the Villa and was very friendly and approachable throughout our stay and was able to help us with any queries we had.
The location is super with lovely views and a steady warm breeze keeping the rooms airy. The facilities are good and we were able to easily access wifi. There is plenty of space and the pool a really good size.
We were advised, in advance, to arrange to have a 4 wheel drive hire vehicle and this proved essential not only for local access but to give us the confidence to explore the island further afield.
Summer Breeze was an ideal place to stay for exploring the island but also for staying put and relaxing. To be recommended.

“Great place to relax”

Summer breeze is a really nice villa and a good place to relax. The property is on top of a hill overlooking the sea and it is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The pool is very large for a villa rental and there is ample space around it. The villa is very clean and well equipped, all rooms have en suites. As you are in the tropics you have to make sure all food is sealed as insects will find their way to it otherwise, but apart from that they shouldn't bother you. The road to the villa is rough to say the least but driving a normal car slowly we were able to navigate it although it is a challenge. You have to remember you are in a much poorer country so you will get hassled from time to time and do not expect the same facilities or standards in places you go out to. There are some very good restaurants but you need to research and plan in advance. The supermarkets in Rodney Bay are well stocked but do not expect the same range/produce as in the UK. Renting a car is essential.

“A great place to stay”

This was our first visit to St Lucia and we travelled independently as a party of 7 - 2 families, 4 adults & 3 teenagers.

Having not been to St Lucia before we were very nervous about booking a property directly but on speaking to Anne we were reassured to find that she is British and has another ex-pat who manages the place on her behalf. We were also very pleased with the information she sent through, especially the recommendations she made for hire car (essential for this property), which we duly followed up (Adventure Leisure) and booked 2 excellent small 4x4 vehicles as well as transfers to/from the airport for a very good price - after a bit of e-mail negotiation!

Summer Breeze is approx 1 mile from the main tourist resort on the Island - Rodney Bay - which we found to be a perfect location. We did find Rodney Bay a little "artificial" with the usual "strip" of bars, clubs, restaurants etc., (plus Subway, Burger King, KFC etc.) which is not our thing but it does have the advantage of having a good selection of shops, 2 or 3 really decent supermarkets, banks etc., plus there are one or two gems to be found if you root them out (triangle-pub where the locals eat - fantastic local food at very low cost - & - Cafe Ole in the marina which is great if you hanker for a latte, or want some nice healthy food or a cake treat).,

Next to Rodney Bay (and actually where Summer Breeze is on the outskirts of) is Gros Islet which is very quiet during the week but has a fantastic street party every Friday (street food & dancing). On the cross-roads where you turn from the main road to Summer Breeze there is a fire station and directly opposite this there is a bar/restaurant (up some steps above a hairdressers) - known as "Angels Place" (though when we were there the sign didn't say this) and you can get unbelievable local cuisine & drink made by Angela (who is a St Lucian, but spent some years living in the UK) at ridiculously low prices - very much recommend the curry, the plantain & her homemade dressing!

Summer Breeze itself is in a really good spot - it struck us as being a really safe location - up in the hills - fantastic views overlooking Cotton Bay on the atlantic side of the island. It was well appointed but you have to make allowances for the relatively poor country you are in so it would not compare with a top-notch UK cottage, but was clean, had everything we needed (kettle, coffee machine, fridge/freezer, cooker, loads of showers - even free wifi / internet etc.) and even though there were 7 of us, was more than big enough for us all! The beds were comfy and there is plenty of storage space in the bedrooms.

There is a handy balcony overlooking the pool - which is fantastic - clean & well maintained and we all enjoyed the opportunity to cool down in it!

If you like wildlife, then you won't be disappointed - we had literally tens of bats swooping across the pool some evenings, the cacophony of sound the frogs & insects make at night has to be heard to be believed, hummingbirds regularly visit the trees in the back yard, lizards scurry around... take a good camera - you will need it!

A few things to be aware of - and this is no reflection on the property at all, but more life in St Lucia....
- there is no air conditioning - the temperature stayed around 30-35 degrees both day & night - thank god there is a constant breeze about the place (hence its name) but even then it was a little uncomfortable at times due to the heat. Electricity is expensive in St Lucia so we guess this is why there is no A/C.
- St Lucia is full of wildlife - insects, lizards, spiders etc. No amount of cleanliness will keep these out of the house - but keep food in the fridge and it's not really an issue.
- Dogs - everyone has 3 or more dogs there. And they bark. A lot. And if you are light sleeper, expect to be working at about 5am. That said, if you were staying in one of the towns you would very likely have loud music to contend with, blissfully there is none of this in the tranquil setting where Summer Breeze is. So the dogs is probably the lesser of two evils.
- The road - all the major roads on the island are of comparable standard to your average UK "B" road - which means they're perfectly wide, adequately tarnac'd, just a bit wiggly with plenty of bends and not many straights. But the last quarter-mile from the main road to the villa is... well, challenging the first time you see it. It's unmade, rutted, full of cobbles & stones, very uneven and the first time you see it you will probably not be impressed. However get a 4x4 (we had suzuki Jimny) and you get used to it. It only takes 2-3 mins to drive over this section but having the right car is essential. We would not recommend staying in Summer Breeze unless you were prepared to rent a car - we wouldn't recommend walking or relying on taxi's.

We would recommend Summer Breeze as a good base for exploring the island - it's right at the north end, but the roads are decent enough that you can get around to pretty much anywhere as a day trip - and we never saw another place on the island which would give you the flexibility as a tourist that you need.

Just bear in mind that it's approx 90 mins drive from the airport and some of the delights of the south of the island (rainforest, volcano, mud-baths etc.).

We are sure to go back to St Lucia one day - and Summer Breeze will almost certainly be where we stay.
