Description: An award winning rustic-smart gastropub, serving the best in local produce and East Anglian ales. Friendly and efficient service perfectly compliment the incredible food served up by chef patron Ben Handley and his team. Norfolk favourites such as Brancaster crab, steaming bowls of Norfolk mussels, locally-smoked salmon with gingerbread are regular highlights; along with Chef Handley’s famous black pudding-scotched quail’s eggs. Sundays' roasts of local pork and Holkham Estate beef are widely regarded as the best along the coast. With two stylish bedrooms; there is always the option to enjoy a wonderful evening meal and super wines from the varied wine list, before staggering upstairs to unwind under the snuggly duck-down duvets. Booking is always essential.

I was very impressed by this restaurant. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a very kind, smiling young man who allowed us the opportunity to take a few minutes to look around, decide whether to sit indoors or out, and to select our table. It was a really nice day, so we sat outside. The same host asked us if he could get us a drink while we looked over the menu. The table service was prompt and the waitstaff couldn't have been more hospitable. We started with the Scotch Quail Eggs & The Crab and followed with the fish & chips and roast beef. Every dish was incredible. We left nothing on our plates. Very creative, inventive menu with so much flavor and a really nice presentation. Prices are also very good for the quality and portion sizes. As a side note, the "small" fish & chips is actually a good sized portion and a great option if you plan to have a starter. The large fish & chips is quite large, so order wisely. Another good idea might be to order several starters and share them Tapas-Style. Maybe throw in one entree. This is the kind of restaurant that will have you wanting to try a little bit of everything.

The Duck is a very solid establishment providing above average quality food. It is not providing food which will blow you socks off but it is very tasty in a very cordial environment. What is really good about it is that it doesn't pretend to be what it isn't and it is very honest about its overall style. The ambiance is rather informal without tablecloths and in a straight forward environment but welcoming. The staff is very nice and welcoming too, at times the forget requests from the tables but it was a very busy evening at the peak of the summer season.

The food is very good, solid and using mostly local produce; the cooking style is not immensely refined but very solid with satisfactory taste. I had the cod cheeks in a soup with herbs and as main fish and chips; initially I ordered pan fried hake with mussels and shrimps but having seen the fish and chips plate I changed my mind, not only for the look of the serving but also because fish an chips in the UK is like a benchmark order through which you can really test the cooking quality. So the starter was very good spicy but not too much and the herbs gave it an interesting taste, as fare as the main it was excellent as the batter was the right golden colour and fired just au point the cod was very fresh and the chips had only marginal room for improvement.

The service as mentioned was good and in line with the ambience.

The wine list is may be the area where I think there is room for improvement with prices may be susceptible of some lowering.

All in all a very good evening out leaving good reasons to come back.

We have visited here a couple of times over the last few months and had Sunday lunch on both occasions. The roast chicken is superb and so moist and tasty. Vegetables, potatoes and yorkies that go with it are faultless. It is on the pricier side but that is normal for this area and it is very well presented and service is spot on. Can highly recommend condensed milk cheesecake. Find £9.50 for a glass of wine ott although it was a large one.

We ate here on the last day of our holiday (shame we didn't find it earlier in the week) .... the staff were very friendly and efficient and the decor in the restaurant was lovely. The food was excellent, there's nothing more to say ... we all had the sirloin steak and it was best we've ever had. The garnish of a tempura spring onion and the mushroom and onion additions to the dish made it so much more than just steak and chips .... try it!!

Fantastic evening meal with family and dogs. The garden area is beautifully done with a covered area. The food was fantastic (even the kids menu was great). Couldn't fault the place and we really enjoyed a relaxing evening meal.
