Truly OUTSTANDING!
My hubby and I are doing a "Half Way Round The World Trip" staying in hotels for 9 months. We have, in our lives, been fortunate enough to visit lots of beautiful and exotic places but nothing compares to our stay at The Adonis Hotel in Apollon.
We had booked a week and ended up staying 3 weeks! We did not hire a car. The moment we arrived we were made to feel as if we were the first ever guests to be here. Such a warm and friendly welcome from everyone at the hotel, it was as if we were returning home. All of the staff and family were our host's. We were seated and given cold drinks and a homemade lemon sweet which was much appreciated after our journey. Our Sea View room was, traditional, perfectly basic and spotlessly clean with a balcony for us to sit and watch the sea. At night to fall asleep listening to the waves was special indeed. We never saw one mosquito in all that time.......and they just love me.
The food was delicious. Breakfast was a cold buffet with loads to choose from (including homemade produce with fruit and vegetables grown by the owner......in his allotment just down the road). We had cooked breakfast on a few occasions which was equally delicious. The evening meals never failed to impress us.......apart from the night I decided to try the little fish in tempura batter.....they were lovely but I couldn't eat 40 of them. Every morning there was a choice of what you would like for your evening meal and I am quite sure any requests that could be met would be. The menu was traditional and cooked to perfection! The salads were always crunchy and fresh, followed by fresh fruit or better still some homemade liqueur (strawberry was my favourite). I could go on and on about the food but give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Everyday our room was cleaned beautifully........nothing special about that I hear you say and I would agree but....it was always done whilst we were at breakfast......never had to wonder if we could use the bathroom or have a rest without being disturbed. I thought about naming people but decided to say.......everyone within The Adonis made our stay very special. Thank you.
Apollon has several tavernas and we tried a few, all were good and the owners welcoming but our favourite for food and drinks was "To Limanaki" the last in the harbour that belongs to Yannis who was my knight in shinning armour (another story!) where we spent many an hour just looking at the view and enjoying breaking the communication barrier.
It is not the building that makes The Adonis Hotel such a magical place but it's the people within it.

ok, so you have read the other reviews regarding this gem of a hotel. My wife and i rode in on scooters from chora. on the way we had lunch in moni at the taverna overlooking the island and had the best roasted goat we had ever tasted. Then the beautiful ride to apollon and the adonis. as we parked stamatis came out to greet us, offered us tastes of his fantastic homemade citrus liquor and led us to our room. it was the essence of greece. spotless, bright, cute lamps and a balcony overlooking the quaint harbor/small beach. we should have stayed two nights here! there is nothing we would have changed about the hotel and nothing more gracious possible from the staff. perfect!

Appolonias is located at the northern tip of the Naxos Island. A small resort and a very quiet place, with few tourist; public busses run only twice a day to Naxos town, about one and a half hour drive away.
The place is very quiet.
There is a small beach with very fine sand about 100 yards from the hotel, with a few tavernas on the waterfront.
Very good value : an inexpensive hotel in a quiet place.

If you want to stay in a quiet, authentic , non touristy part of Naxos, Apollon is a great choice, and the Adonis is a great place to stay. Rooms are basic but very comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the owner Stamatis who is great fun and can't do enough to help his clients. The food at the hotel is also very good and made from local produce.

We had an incredibly relaxing week at Adonis Hotel. Stamatis and co are the greatest hosts and will go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. From beginning to end we felt so comfortable here, like we were part of the family. Dinner (menu changes nightly) is delicious and very reasonably priced, and the breakfast is outstanding- we loved the cakes and homemade marmalades! The homemade liqueurs are also so delicious. Really love that they grow their own organic produce, it's so fresh and tasty. The hotel is very clean and bright and airy. Room is a good size with comfy bed and plenty of storage space. We loved our balcony - so spacious and picturesque! We also appreciated the port pickup, as we did not rent a car. (Sidenote we didn't miss having a car because we never wanted to leave, but some people might prefer having their own wheels as it is about an hour from town). The village, Apollonas, is a small charming place and the beach is lovely. Very laid back 'island time' type place, not stuffy or snooty like some other islands - a total breath of fresh air. We wish we could have stayed for weeks! We will definitely come back to Naxos and stay at Adonis Hotel again.

Dear Jennifer,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am glad that you had such a good time staying with us! I couldn't describe better than you did neither Apollon Village or Adonis Hotel even if I wanted to, which shows how much you appreciated and enjoyed your vacations here. And that makes me very happy!
I look forward to meeting you two again in the future!
Best regards,
Stamatis
