“Unique and wonderful getaway”
Reviewed 1 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

I stayed as a solo traveler for 5 days in this wonderful townhouse surrounded by 15th century architecture and art. Rachel made sure that the townhouse is equipped with absolutely everything needed for a wonderful stay. I very much enjoyed the luxuries the house includes like the spa tub, wondrously comfortable bed, and complete kitchen! This property would be great for honeymooners, couples vacations, girl's weekends, or family holidays. It's close to shops, restaurants, markets, and cafes, one of which has the most amazing cappuccino! I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

“A step back in time ”
Reviewed 12 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had the most wonderful stay in this quaint, medieval village. Living in Milan in amongst the hustle and bustle it was amazing to escape to the peaceful, serenity of Pigna.
The townhouse is beautiful, full of modern ammeneities, I particularly enjoyed the whirlpool bath after a long day of walking. Pigna is such a walkable place, lots of beautiful cobbled streets and amazing views.
Not far from the town house is the most beautiful natural rock pools which we thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at to cool off!
We then headed off to Monaco and Nice to do some exploring, easily accessible from Pigna by car and train, they made for the perfect day trip!
Thankyou again for having us Rachel!
We would come back in a heartbeat !

“Medieval townhouse luxuriously appointed throughout - Perfecto!”

I don't normally write reviews but this one I feel deserves the effort! We had a fabulous week at this holiday rental and would highly recommend it. The townhouse is magnificent! Medieval stature with luxurious modern amenities and it works so well. Beds are superb with bed linen and bath towels that surpass those found in 5 star hotels. It has a large, powerful shower with additional rain shower, and separate whirlpool bath with LED colour changing light - a very nice touch my wife loved. 4K large TV, Blu-Ray DVD player, and very well equipped kitchen, probably the best I have seen in a holiday home. They even supply Molton Brown toiletries and enough toilet roll, tea/coffee/milk for the week, a very welcome gesture! They also supply numerous other goodies but I won't spoil it all for you. The 3 good sized bedrooms are across 3 floors giving lots of privacy and are ideal for 2 couples or families. Another big plus worth mentioning is there are no sofa beds which you normally find in these rentals, the house sleeps 6 in beds, and with superior memory foam mattresses too, we had a great night sleep every night of our stay. The luxurious goose down quilts and pillows were also greatly appreciated and are worthy of note.
The medieval villages are wonderful, with great some restaurants serving traditional Ligurian cuisine and mostly very reasonable, be sure to sample the local wine. There is a great pizzeria just a 2 minute walk from the house, a very big plus considering the location. There are also several other restaurants in walking distance and a great coffee shop serving delicious pastries and ice cream. Our favourite was Old Terme (next to the spa hotel) the tables on the outside terrace have fabulous views of the village and the a la carte menu was extensive and delicious! We visited Dolceacqua, Apricale, Rochetta Nervina and Perinaldo and they are all worth visiting in our opinion and have their own mysterious feel. Be sure to pack your walking boots! There is a quaint 3D cinema in Dolceacqua which is quite extraordinary. We loved the rock pools in Pigna they made a nice change from the beach and the water was so refreshing, but San Remo, Bordighera and Ventimiglia all have nice beaches, offering water sports - great pedal boats with water slides at San Remo - and towns for those who want them. This house is in a fabulous location with not only magical, medieval villages surrounding it but also the bustling French and Italian Riviera. Menton and Monaco were also on our list to explore (just 40 minutes away) but sadly we didn't have time....for me though that's a great reason to return - and we certainly will. Simply stunning, you will not be disappointed! Special mention and thanks also goes to Rachel who showed us round and was very friendly, helpful and informative during our stay. All in all perfecto!

Thank you so much Stephen for taking the time to review our property in so much detail, I am delighted to hear you had a wonderful stay with us. We do try to go that extra mile for our guests by offering a few extras to make your stay a more enjoyable one and it's nice to know they are appreciated. A good nights sleep is very important especially when you are away from home, and a lot of thought was put into getting the beds and linen just right for our guests - I'm very pleased they were to your liking and you had a "great night sleep every night" and also that you liked the shower and whirlpool bath. It sounds like you did a lot of exploring during your time with us, visiting several surrounding medieval villages and sampling the local wine and cuisine. We are very lucky to have such an array of fabulous restaurants within a few miles radius and also within walking distance of the townhouse and I'm glad you enjoyed them especially Terme. It would be a pleasure to welcome you and your family back again to explore some more and I have to agree, Menton and Monaco are a great reason to return. Best Wishes, Rachel.

“Stunning townhouse in a beautiful town.”

My wife won a few nights at the townhouse in Pigna and we have literally just got back.
The townhouse was furnished brilliantly with all the facilities you could need. Rachel was very friendly and helpful.
Pigna is an amazing medieval town and the townhouse is situated in what we called the 'labyrinth'. A maze of tunnels and townhouses which are like going back in town. You can feel the history there.
We had a hire car so visited Ventimiglia and had a great meal recommended by Rachel and only 30 minutes away. We spent a day on the beach in San Remo. An hours drive and we'll worth it. On the way back to Nice airport we spent a few hours in Dolceacqua. Again a beautiful place. It was our first time to Italy and we would definetly go back. Pigna isn't really a tourist place but there is a shop, a few bars and restaurants so you really get the Italian feel. We will definetly be back in the future and highly recommend staying at the townhouse.

Thank you Andy and Lou for your lovely review, it was a pleasure welcoming you and your friends to our townhouse, I'm so very pleased you all enjoyed your stay with us. It's nice to hear you had a great meal in the restaurant I recommended on the seafront in Ventimiglia and enjoyed your day in San Remo.. It was great that you extended your stay and booked an extra couple of nights with us giving you more time to fully appreciate the townhouse and surrounding area. Pigna is a special place and it would be a pleasure to welcome you back in the future to explore some more. Best Wishes, Rachel.

“A wonderful balance between ancient and modern”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

If you can imagine a thousand year house that's also brand new, you've got a good picture of what to expect here. The furnishings are of the highest quality- de Longhi espresso, quartz countertops, a jacuzzi bath with LED lighting- but the house is purely from the Middle Ages. Amazing.

Pigna is, in a word, breathtaking. Breathtaking because of it's beauty, breathtaking because it's an actual town, not just a tourist attraction, breathtaking because of the exercise required to get around! It's definitely not for everyone, but if you're a traveler looking to stray off the beaten path while still living in luxury I think you'll love Lurguia Holiday Homes.

Liked best: The contrast between the ancient home and modern amenities
Liked least: Be aware: the house has a lot of stairs. It is not for anyone with mobility issues.
