Reviewed 18 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Gorgeous, luxury Italian villa in the mountains of Tuscany Italy, two hours from Florence by nearby train, and an hour from the Mediterranean. Sleeps 10 comfortably. Lovingly, artfully restored to preserve the regional history, breathtaking views, friendly villagers so you can practice your Italian, and many great restaurants nearby. A painter's dream...Owners provide suggestions for wonderful day trips to nearby villages, and more...You won't be disappointed! Casadellaquercia.com

“Off the beaten path/ Idyllic country retreat perfect for families!”
Reviewed 12 August 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Our multigenerational family of 6 had a fabulous visit to Casa della Quercia and we returned home refreshed and restored! Ron and Gillian have done an amazing job restoring a historic home while offering all the modern amenities any spoiled American family could want! The decor is tasteful, the furnishings comfortable throughout, and the privacy offered to larger parties is unmatched.
It is exactly as depicted (if not much better once you smell the lavender-scented hillside), and is charming, to say the least.
Having Ron nearby (but never intrusive) was a bonus- he knows the region well and his recommendations on day-trips and restaurants were on-point and we really enjoyed getting out of the more touristy areas of Italy. However, if you want to hit some of the hot spots, it's just a short way to the Autostrada (through some windy country roads- which make it all the more exciting). The entire trip was exactly what we expected because Gillian and Ron both prepared us well and were wonderful in communicating with us well in advance. Overall, it was a peaceful adventure for our entire family and a great foray into the countryside. The kids and I even spotted two small boars on the side of the road one day, making our bucket list complete- and each night, we looked forward to seeing a herd of goats as they made their way up the hill to graze.

We ended our stay doing as Gillian recommended- and ventured to the coast for a few days of beach and seaside fun at Lerici and Portovenere and it was a great way to end our trip. However, we pined a bit for lavender scented air and of course, for the bell tower and Gabriella's awesome gnocchi and ravioli .. and meats...and desserts.. and everything! .. Just a short way down the hill.

We enjoy traveling to new places each year with our children, but this one may just have to be on the return list- and we don't even speak a word of Italian! The people were wonderful all around us and we couldn't have had a better time, or better weather!

Thanks, Ron and Gillian and to all your friends who fed us so well all week- we truly hope to return someday! Everything was tutto bene!

“Remote, beautiful villa in mountains of western Tuscany”
Reviewed 9 August 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Casa Della Quercia is a beautifully renovated villa in the mountains of Tuscany north of Lucca. We were a party of 8 adults and 3 children - we all loved it. There are views and panoramas for the adults to enjoy and a great pool for the kids. The two kitchens are stocked with all the utensils and dishes you will need. All is clean and inviting. And there is the plus of having one of the owners close by to answer any and all questions.

It is remote. Most attractions are about an hour's drive away, but there are local restaurants and grocery stores closer. The only downside is the local church bell tower. Bring ear plugs or some white noise and all will be good.

We all loved the villa and would recommend.

“La Bella Vita!”

La Bella Vita was our girls’ vacation theme. Gillian and Ron offer an incredible villa. The beauty all around this Tuscan hillside village is breathtaking. Our unit in the villa was well-appointed with everything we needed for our Tuscany vacation. The beds were super comfortable. I had the pleasure of staying in the luxurious Venetian suite. The historic villa, landscaping and surrounding terraces which have lovely olive trees and a pool have been meticulously maintained.

Ron, thank you for helping us shop on our way to Casa della Quercia, and showing us how to use the expresso maker and laundry. Your recommendation for the nearby LoSpino Restaurant was spot on – so delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed using the patio and grill for al fresco dining.

My hope is to return again to this very special villa.

Ciao,
Janis, Deb, Kathy and Karen
