The visit to the Garden Nazari is a real pleasure. It is an exquisite medieval garden, very similar to Generalife but still not well known.
If traveling through the province, do not hesitate to discover this undiscovered gem.
It is a very relaxing, interesting and a place to discover a garden style practically unheard of in the world ride.

We visited these gardens in August 2015. Velez de Benaudalla is nice Andalucian village with the usuall bars, churches, squares, market. These Nazari gardens, however, located at the lower side of the village towards the river, are something special. There are parts with typical plants from the area, some nice ornaments but really exceptional are the vertical gardens and small caves. The water that drips along a cliff supports a wide range of plants. Even in August the place was very quiet and we hope it will remain like that.

An interesting and varied garden to explore. Traditional gardens and some interesting caves and damp dells. We didn't have time to explore the house because the gardens and house closed at 12 to reopen again in the evening.

We spent a lovely peaceful morning in this Moorish inspired garden in August. It's a bit like the Alhambra but on a tiny scale, & so lovelh to have it on your doorstep when staying in Velez village. Lots of pretty features & plenty of shade from the searing summer heat. It's typically Spanish in that it's rough around the edges (National Trust, it is not!) & a bit precarious in parts, but charming nonetheless. Well worth a visit if you can fathom out the opening times, & pennies to get in.
We also went to a free evening of flamenco music in the garden on Spanish bank holiday weekend (which blasts about 5 days!) and it was electrically atmospheric.
