We had 2 nights here recently, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable with some nice touches, we loved having a Nespresso machine in our room! All the staff were very friendly and the food was great. Huge well cooked breakfast that set us up for a days walking and a good choice on the menu for evening meals. Lovely restaurant with a nice fire, would definitely visit again.

Our first impression was what a lovely place this is. Nothing disappointed, our room was very comfortable and warm for the time of year. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The food has been excellent very enjoyable.

We had a lovely overnight stay at the Cheviot Hotel after very unexpectedly being caught in the 'Beast from the East 2.0' and being left stranded in Bellingham. We did not have a booking but asked the manager and he did all he could to help us and give us a room. The room was lovely, clean and bed very comfy and the hotel was cosy and very friendly. The breakfast was amazing, really good quality and variety of food (loved the smoothies and juices, fruit, granola and cooked breakfast). They even provided a vegetarian cooked breakfast which is very hard to find. The staff were all incredible and we would definitely stay again and recommend!

we spent two nights at this great hotel in January. The cosy bar was friendly and stocked excellent real ales and had a wonderful wood burning stove. Our bedroom was just across the street and was very comfortable with a lovely big bed, a fabulous ensuite bathroom with top notch shower, and there was a good selection of hot drink ingredients available. The room was really clean and quiet so we slept well. A thoughtful touch was the umbrellas available to use in case of rain when dashing back across the road to the hotel. Our evening meal was delicious and both mornings the breakfast was very good, with a good selection of continental and hot dishes available.

Called for a meal on Sunday the 11th Feb. The food had stopped serving until 6pm so we had a couple of drinks before ordering. I ordered Beef madras curry which sounded lovely on a cold crisp day. The food came about 5 minutes later, which i thought was quick!
The meal came. It was hard dry meat, with no sauce, onions, peppers, all the things you expect in a curry, served with rice and a stale naan bread.
Absolutely terrible, worst I've ever had. BEWARE, if you call for a bite to eat.

Room Tip: Don't bother, go to the RIVERDALE, just round the corner.
