What a wee gem of a hotel, located in North Ballachulish where the ferry used to run from is this amazing small hotel. Boutique in style complete with quirky ‘Scottish Literature Room’ and roaring fire where you can enjoy a dram or two!
The bar and lounge are so good, the tiny bar with open fire also offers a great range of whiskies not to mention the fantastic gin that Craig distills in an outhouse! The Devil’s Staircase.
The staff here are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Our room, 2 was quite quirky, tasteful and spotlessly clean.
Down to dinner and was really pleased with the quality of food, great produce and beautifully prepared. Loved it! Nearly forgot to mention the most amazing views!

We purchased this hotel via groupon as a deal and didn't know what to expect, it exceeded all our expectations and more.
This hotel looks out over the loch to the Scottish mountains. The rooms where really comfortable and clean.
The hosts where on site running the hotel and were very hospitable. Impressed with the amount of whiskies and Gins to try. The food was amazing especially the breakfast.

I was expecting a small country house hotel & it was more like a pub with rooms.
Let’s start with the good points: Wonderful position with fab view over the Loch, quiet at night for sleep, comfy bed, pleasant staff, good breakfast.
Our room was quite nice though a bit small (fine for 1 night). The bathroom was a decent size & it looked like the sanitary ware was quite modern. However the rest of the bathroom was in need of a makeover. Flaky paint on the ceiling, cracked tiles with missing grouting on the floor, big dollops of sealant around the shower as if something had been badly fixed.
There were 2 nice sitting areas for guests but both were very chilly. I found the dining room oppressive not cosy & welcoming (the bar area was much nicer).
We decide to eat here as there is not much locally & again I was disappointed. After discounting the burgers & fish & chips which I don’t eat I opted for a veggie cassoulet. Very dull & a bit odd with silver skin onions in it which tasted vinegary. My husband fared better with his beef. The cost of the food was reasonable.
So overall for £130 a night for the room & breakfast it didn’t match expectations. This was made worse because previously we had stayed at a superb B&B in Oban for £15 a night less!
I have given 4 stars to be generous. All of these issues could be easily fixed & then it would be superb.
I might stay again-??? Maybe.

Stopped here on our West Highland Way walk. The front desk person who greeted us couldn't have been nicer. She showed us to our room and even tracked down our bags (which had been delivered by baggage transport) and lugged them to our room, refusing our offers to help. The room was spacious and comfortable. We ate in the on-site restaurant, which was tasty, and again had excellent service. It seemed like everyone there somehow knew which room we were, as I'm not sure we even gave our room number when we went to the bar after but they still charged our room properly!
