Stayed here three times now, love the place and location. Very well equipped comfortable cottage, clean and tidy. Brampton has a friendly village pub which is just 2 mins walk and Appleby is only a short drive away. Excellent base for running, biking and walking. We walked High Cup Nick and Dufton Pike and have done some excellent bike rides with rolling hills. The train station is only a short drive away and is on the Settle to Carlisle line. Would definitely recommend staying here.
A delightful cottage with wonderful views from every window - especially enjoyed our morning cuppa in bed whilst watching the Easter lambs and bunnies in the field opposite! We stayed with 2 teenagers and there was pleanty of space for everyone; it is much larger than the pictures suggest. The cottage is clean, well equipped with good quality furnishings and really comfortable beds! The owners have thought of everything. A welcome gift of biscuits and home made damson gin was a lovely touch! The garden at the back was lovely and attracted lots of pretty finches - overall a very peaceful location.
The small, pretty village has a pub, an easy walk from the cottage, which served good food and ale. We also enjoyed the best fish and chips ever at Appleby, next to the river!
The location makes it easy for sight seeing; we were spoilt for choice for walks in the area, visited the bird of prey centre at Penrith and Trotters Wildlife park (nr Bassenthwaite lake) and enjoyed the fab. Ullswater steamer (combined with the Howtown hike!).
We look forward to returning one day!
