Last minute booking to stay at tge Britannia. I had visited the pub for the boxing on TV the night before. Good local atmosphere and packed. Little bit tired in the decs downstairs but does have a snug room as well as the main bar. Good seafront location and friendly welcoming staff. Lets take it up a notch here Bedroom 1 has a stunning sea view and very well equipped spacious bedroom and ensuite. Best seaview from a hotel I've had in a long time. Excellent breakfast best i had In Aberdovey.

My husband and I are regular visitors to the Brit usually on a Friday night where the food has always been very good. However we decided to sample the Sunday lunch as we had been temporarily snowed in. What can I say it was the best Sunday lunch we'd had in a long time. The roast pork and cracking were delicious and the selection of vegetables of which there we plenty were fresh and delicious. Pudding was sticky toffee pudding also delicious. More importantly the two course meal was excellent value served by warm and friendly staff. Visit the Britannia inn for an excellent Sunday lunch.

Restaurant surprisingly good after the slightly deceptive bar downstairs (a little tired but cosy and friendly). Restaurant had a make over in recent years. Very popular. Good selection of food. We opted for a antipasto starter and then the cod and chips (well we were on holiday). Wine great value and good quality. Fun and friendly. Made a great evening. Food was very good.

Love Dovey. The beach - the hills - outdoor sports - the Deli (amazing) - the peacefulness of the new year after a busy Christmas/New Year. Love also The Brit for its traditional pub qualities but fear it forgets that traditional pubs provide a warm welcome (always - or else why would you have such a business?). Not sure who the barman was (a Mr MacKay?) but he was really struggling to break into a smile/warmness to our group. He seemed uncomfortable with ‘strangers’ more relaxed/friendly with the locals. Perhaps natural to most but if you’re in this game then this needs attention Mr MacKay. If you’ve have enough of the game then give it up and try something else - you sounded quite bright so why not? If you decide to stay put then it’s pretty simple - (1) smile at anyone who approaches your bar; and (2) make them feel absolutely welcome in your nice bar. And number 3 - nobody really gives 2 craps about you personally but they do expect a smile / warm welcome from where they spend money/time with their selves/family/friends - so just a polite reminder.....

Called in for a few beers to watch the football whist on a Family trip to Aberdyfi
Nice chap behind the bar and a good selection of ale
Unable to return as we had our son with us and kids not allowed in the bar but will go back one day
