“Great cottage, excellent location”

Our family stayed at this cottage for New Year week 2013/14 and had a fabulous time. There were 5 couples ranging from their 20's to their 60's and we all loved the cottage and its fab location. There was plenty of room for everyone, we could all site together in the huge living room and watch the massive TV on the wall, and we could all eat together in the dinning room - which is not always possible with a group of ten. The little courtyard out back was great for letting the dog out in between walks. There is everything you could possibly need availabe in the cottage, the kitchen is very well equiped, even had dishwasher tablets and cleaning products. There are games, a wii, a PS2, dvd's, wifi etc so plenty to keep everyone entertained. The location - being at the bottom of the high street, is superb, and Pickering is such a lovely place to stroll around, do some shopping - lots of cafes, bakeries, pubs and restaurants, and a large co-op for supplies and food, plus lots of take-aways - everything you could need without being too big and bustling. We had a lovely meal in Figaro's Italian resturant (although the service was very poor) and a nice meal at the Bay Horse, and the Black Swan, the Rose, the Sun and the White Swan are great pubs with real ales. Our favorite day out was on the Steam Train to Goathland, where we booked a meal at the Mallyan Spout Hotel (after reading bad reviews about food in the Goathland Hotel) and it was well worth the 15 minute walk from the station, as the hotel pub, food and service were excellent. The christmas decorations in the house and wine were a lovely touch and made it feel home from home. My only very small negatives would be that there are so many supplies in the kitchen there is little cupbaord space to put our own food, and the dishwasher needs replacing as we had to keep hand washing things placed at the front. Otherwise - everything was perfect and I would highly recommend the cottage to a large family or group who like to spend time together and prefer to be close to ammenities. The owners were lovely, and booking and communications about the cottage were a pleasure - they couldn't do enough to help - and the cottage was immaculatly presented on arrival.

Aw thank you - once again a wonderful review for us. It just makes me so happy that the house pleases so many of our lovely guests. Good news is that tomorrow we take a brand new dishwasher to the house as we don;t need that to be upsetting anybody!! Also i will see what we can do about the cupboard space.....i think we can move some pots and pans into other places to accommodate this. I genuinely want our guests to be 100% happy and so take on board any comments and where possible resolve things :) THANK YOU for everything, you have been a star from day one xxxx

“Early Christmas Delights”

My mother in law celebrated her 65th Birthday in style at No2 The Ropery, a lovely and unique house at the very bottom of Pickering High Street in December, the Christmas tree was up and the house looked beautiful!

We chose The Ropery based on passed my personal past experiences earlier in the year with friends, the house is perfect, beautifully furnished, decorated and kept, it is very clean and well thought out and makes for a lovely stay. The owner Alison Hobson is a lovely lady who no request is too much trouble for, she answered our queries and questions with good grace and humour.

The house is beautiful and despite the fact my husband is the hardest man to please on earth he is already asking to go back and planning our next visit, perfect house, lovely location and lovely owners.

Stress free what more could you ask for.

Thank you to the Hobson’s it was a pleasure.

“A very comfortable house extremely well positioned within Pickering”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

An extended family of 7 stayed for a week. The house is wonderfully positioned in the centre of Pickering with easy access to shops and pubs and restaurants. It is also very comfortable and a perfect fit for our group with 5 bedrooms.

“All you need.”
Reviewed 2 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Had a lovely, relaxing week. The house is beautiful with lots of little touches that make it extra special. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Plus Pickering is a great base for the area with lots or restaurants, bakeries, delis, grocers and a good sized supermarket nearby so no long expeditions for supplies.
