We joined the que at the bar at lunch, to order food for outside. We waited, waited and waited some more. Everyone was served - peiple who were before and peiple who were after us until No One was left - but us. Still we waited, and continued to be ignored. Almost 20 minutes (also 2 hungry kids waiting outside) later we were told someone would be with us soon.

I have worked in hospitality my whole life and have never treated a customer the way we were treated today - I would not return.

Sort out your staffing issues - I heard the lady say this lunch rush happens everyday. Well if so, prepare for it. Because it was ridiculous.

We somewhat blindly chose Portcullis based on photos of the bar and restaurant. The hotel is an old school and the stairs to the rooms are winding and it really adds to the atmosphere. Room 1 has views in three directions and we enjoyed it and the nice breeze that blew through the windows late in the afternoon. The staff was incredible and helped us get parked in front. It’s at the top of the hill. Town is accessible downhill. Castle literally next door around a single wall. A very fun place to stay. Beds were comfy and shower was nice. Coffee service in the room. Classic good luck finding this place!

My family loved our brief stay at Porticullis! Linda is a great host; lunch was fantastic (especially the steak pie and and a stout)
views incredible and the rooms warm, the kids appreciated the USB chargers in the rooms too. Thank you!

We were there last September during our visit to Stirling. Food was awesome and the staff very friendly. A great place in front of the castle.
You have to book a table if you want to enjoy their food. The place is always full of people having a dinner o taking a beer.

Excellent food and service! I would recommend The Portcullis to anyone! I was here for Tea on my first 2017 trip (April), and was lucky enough to walk in and have dinner here on my second 2017 trip (November), but that was lucky as this place really fills up with locals. Best to make reservations for dinner. They also have a couple of B&B rooms to let, which would be fun to stay in.
