Sundowner is immaculate, quiet and very well situated. Kingussie is within walking distance ( station too). We thought the cottage was extremely well presented, warm and cosy with all equipment we could want. There is a lovely little terrace overlooking the garden. We would recommend it .

“Great accommodation and great hosts”
Reviewed 4 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

This is really great accommodation, warm and comfortable with all you need. There is plenty of space, and a very good porch area for outdoor clothing/drying etc; also secure storage for bikes.
The location is excellent with cycling and mountain biking opportunities straight from the door, and with an unlimited amount within 30 minutes to an hour's drive in any direction. Great walking too, also all within easy reach.Kingussie is a pleasant village with a co-op and other services less than 5 minutes drive away. I could have stayed a month and not run out of things to do. I wish I could have.
The hosts, Judy and Jules are so friendly and welcoming, and extremely helpful with local information and advice on mountain bike routes etc. I followed their suggestions on a couple of perfect cloudless January days and had some of the most memorable days out I've had. Can't recommend this place enough.

“Christmas holiday relaxation”
Reviewed 6 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

This was our 3rd holiday here at Spindrift Cottage, Ruthven Steadings just outside Kingussie.
Our new hosts Judy and Jules gave us a warm welcome, and it was fantastic to be back. Judy's homemade shortbread gift was delicious.
It really is a beautiful cottage with all modern appliances, cosy and warm with comfy chairs to sink into and watch the birds come and go on the feeders. Even better to sit and watch the snow on Boxing Day!
The double bedroom looks out onto an enclosed courtyard with more bird feeders and past this to Ruthven Barracks. Kingussie is on the doorstep and has a variety of shops a great deli and some lovely coffee and cake shops.
So good we just had to book another week in October.
If you want a beautiful cottage to come back to after a day exploring, skiing, biking or wallking in the Highlands you won't be disappointed.

“Excellent cottage in ideal location for Scottish Highlands”
Reviewed 1 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

I rented this cottage for a week. My sister had never been to Scotland so it was good excuse to take her the highlands and see the heart of beautiful Scotland. Lot of interesting places are close by. We saw the Glenfiddich whisky distillery, just over an hour away, went the Lochness monster exhibition about one and a half hour away, went to Fort William and took the Steam engine train to Malliag - wonderful day out, Aviemore is less than half hour away and the mountain train going up the Caringorm for sking and sight seeing is very nice. We also played golf at Boat of Garten and Kingussie golf clubs, they are real gems and enjoying our game. Its also wonderful for bird watchers because there were so many birds coming eat there.

“Best Ever!”

Spindrift Cottage Kingussie

Just back from our third visit to this immaculate cottage in the Scottish Highlands. The cottage is the best run, cleanest, warmest, most comfortable place we have ever stayed in a long list of holiday lets. Cannot rate it highly enough. Such charming friendly welcoming owners who cannot do enough for you – or leave you to your own devices if preferred. Double bedroom with shower room, twin bedroom with en suite shower room; lovely open plan kitchen, dining and living room with patio doors to sheltered deck. Look at the photos on their website and be assured that your every comfort is just waiting for you to visit. Everything you need is there.
The area around Kingussie has many attractions. Golf? Lovely golf course a mile up the road. Walking? From easy to challenging hill climbing(and skiing in winter). Wildlife? Bird cameras in the garden watching the constant movement of a variety of birds and there is the Highland Wildlife Park with its polar bears, wildcats and so much more just 4 miles away. Steam trains? Up to Aviemore and take a trip or even Sunday lunch while puffing along the rails to Boat of Garten. Gardening? Lovely Alpine Nursery with fab cakes not too far away.
In other words, why go anywhere else when you have such a comfortable base in the beautiful Cairngorm National Park with many attractions just waiting on your presence. Go!
