On the spur of the moment we decided to visit the Lion and Safari Park on Family Day. We expected it to be crowded and of course it was, but everything was great. The facilities were modern, clean and well looked after. The staff were friendly and always helpful. The restaurants and shops were varied and well stocked. We took a private drive option which was reasonably priced and the viewing outstanding. We were cautioned by the lady at the entrance gate that there were a large number of vehicles in the park, but apart from a few times in the Lion enclosures we never felt crowded. The addition of the cheetah enclosure was an added bonus. A great day was had by all and we will recommend it to friends and anybody who wants a convenient and exciting experience in the African bush. Well done to the whole team who made this day memorable, Lance Kinnear

Very reasonable entry fee (kids free and seniors almost half adult fee). Self drive best if you are in a bakkie (pick up) or SUV. Low slung cars will struggle a bit.. Tour cost is only marginally more expensive than self drive. Experience giraffe up close (to touch!). Lion enclosure, wild dog enclosure and cheetah enclosure all great. Fantastic photo opportunities.

The access to the lions was brilliant. Go around feeding time when the park rangers are dishing out the food. You get up and close from your car to where they are eating. The lions look very domesticated but don’t be fooled. They looked like they were taking no notice of the cars but one of the rangers had to close a car door and all the lions became very focused and you could tell they knew there may be some fresh meat. Scary. I took the below photo when this happened.

The visit to the park was worth every penny.
Although we did not go for selfdrive, there is nothing that we missed. We saw Lions being fed in open.We spotted giraffe, cubs, leopard and a plethora of wild animals. My son enjoyed feeding the giraffe. It was sheer delight to see the Lions not just once but twice .
