the isle of Mann is one of those places you should visit the fact you can go by ferry.or plain which ever you feel will suit you and how quick you want to start you holiday i went by boat when the sea is calm its great when is rough hang on and hang on tight on the ferry it has a cinema. so you go in to pass the time you can go down stairs. fir something to eat and a drink to eat on board well try not to faint it can be expensive. the food ok if you say well its all part of the holiday then that's ok .you can roam the ship to keep busy. then you dock its a mad dash to get off why no idea lots of taxis to take you to your hotel.the hotels are nice if you get yourself a flat the one we stayed was really nice and was told the flats on the isle of Mann are all the same the hotels in Douglas are really white and stand out the town of Douglas is really nice its go lots and lots of places to eat great restaurants. on good days you can sit in our out side the shop are a little dearer then on the Maine land they have lovely cake shops scores to die for. if you bring your car you can visit keele. nice place also loxly where you will see the wheel. and have lots of photo s to take then gone on the train that will take you all around. good idea for drives so you get the chance to see what's going on the isle of Mann as everything. for everyone old and young alike. i love the isle of Mann you feel you been somewhere and had a good holiday enjoy

A trip to the island is not complete without a visit to the White House. It is unique with a great front room. The beers are well kept. Locals make the visitors welcome. if you like real ale then well worth a visit when on the island.

My dad lives just around the corner from this pub. When I'm over we stroll to the "front room" for early doors. This is a lovely little snug with an open fire.

If I'm there on my own I go and stand in the bar. There's always someone to talk to and you get a wide variety of people in. There are no pretensions in Peel - every one chats to everyone else regardless of who they are and where they come from.

The beer is cheap and well looked after. My normal tipple is Pride of Pendle - they do Okells and Busheys etc.

Sometimes Neil the landlord brings out a plate of sandwiches to share round. It's just little details like that that make this a proper pub.

If you like your real ale and want to speak to local people while you drink, this is the pub for you. Tucked away from the quayside you may have to ask someone to show you the way. Possibly the best pub on the island one CAMRA member said and he is not wrong! Ok so it's not the smartest of pubs and they don't do food but Neil takes a real interest in his customers and keeps a good range of ale. We were recommended to go to Tia's teaspoon just down the road for food which was very good value and generous portions
