We booked the Moonlight Apartment for a 5 night break in half term while visiting family and friends in Co. Durham. It is a well-appointed apartment with some lovely touches. The bright living area looks out onto New Elvet and the busyness of Durham City Centre. Noise from the street was minimal.

We were warmly welcomed by Sharon on our arrival who showed us where everything was and explained a few bits and pieces including the remote-control for the curtains in the main bedroom!

The kitchen had everything we needed, including a Nespresso, machine and it was great to have breakfast items supplied on our arrival along with some other treats waiting for us.

Parking is secure and in the basement of the complex with an allocated space.

We know Durham really well, but there was a folder of useful information provided too. It's well located near to Elvet Bridge with the bars and restaurants of the city centre only a very short walk away.

Thanks for a great stay.

“"Quirky" is a good word for this place!”

This is a conveniently placed apartment in Central Durham, being only minutes' walk from the city centre. It's furnished in a modern, spiky, and ultimately slightly uncomfortable way. The details which let it down included: the washing machine, dish-washer and coffee machine had none of them been cleaned out properly - all had the previous visitors' gunge still there. Also the toilet smelled. The spiral staircase was awkward to negotiate with a case, and you had to be careful getting out of bed upstairs so as not to bump your head on the eaves! Some nice touches, though - e.g. a bottle of wine and some croissants left for our use.

Thanks for taking the trouble to review the apartment - our cleaners have been reminded about the gunge issues! Can only imaging the dishwasher gunge was the remains of an un-used detergent tablet, but we ought to have spotted that. Toilet smell issue we resolved with the building managers - not the toilet itself, but apparently a building-wide plumbing issue. Spiral staircase can take some getting used to, but in fact there is a wide external staircase to the upper level as an alternative for moving cases.

This is a wonderful apartment and the owners have thought of just about everything. It is beautifully decorated and with all the comforts of home and more. Being so close to the city centre and the cathedral is a decided advantage, as well. Have stayed in many holiday rentals all over the world and this definitely rates as one of the best.

“Central, spacious, well-appointed apartment”

The apartment was right in the centre of Durham, convenient for the cathedral, castle, river-walks as well as pubs, shops and restaurants.
It is about a mile from the station.
It had all the amenities we required and was decorated and fitted out to a high standard and was also clean.
The only downside was that, being centrally located, and on a main road, it was very noisy.

Pleased you enjoyed your stay in general, the noise from the centre of the city of Durham is pretty much the consequence of such a convenient location of course . For guests who are more sensitive to this, our Oasis Apartment is perhaps better, being set back from the road and having somewhat smaller windows!
