We stayed on a motor home pitch at this wonderful site. The site is in a stunning location next to the Abbey and the river with nice walks and scenery. The site is very clean and tidy and the hosts very friendly. Lots of day visitors come for a picnic alongside the river here and take in the views. There is a coffee shop on site that is well worth a visit and sells ice creams . We had a very peaceful and relaxing break and will be returning next time we are in the area. Thoroughly recommend this site to anyone.

We stayed on the caravan site here and had a good wander around . The location is amazing. The priory is awesome to walk around, there could be a bit more information about what your seeing and walking around. Tea shop there is nice and the people are friendly. Their honey is a must to try, the bee hives are on site. Picnic tables are set out along the river Wear and a Riverwalk just over the bridge.

Finchale Priory is 'on our doorstep' yet we hadn't visited in years until we chanced a visit in May and had such a lovely time we returned a few days later with all of the family. It is such a beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt place. A hidden gem.

Love this place, especially being local, but as with most English Heritage sites, find lacking in facts and info.
More info points around the site would be great to understand the functions and visualise how the priory used to be and the fate of what happened to the site.
Stunning scenery and photos of the river.
Good place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny day, before a coffee on site.
