A really well located victorian grand hotel, on the top of Bowness overlooking the lake. The room was a recently updated twin which was nice and a good view. The room was well cleaned most days.
This hotel has history, such a shame the current management are running this grand lady with inadequate staffing.
The dining room staff seem to wander aimlessly, they are unfocused on guests needs and clearly are untrained. Breakfast was ok but frequently core items were missing ad the staff needed prompting. Tables were often left uncleared or not prepared, it wasn't over busy - this is fundamental customer service !
The hotel general manager needs to take a walk around with eyes open, attention to detail is clearly missing and lets this grand hotel down- for example the dining room tiled floor was and remained very dirty with food spills all week! A good manager would pick up on this and other un- maintained areas such as the patio door areays which where home to a family of flies! The main rooms are very grand (but felt very sterile, perhaps a few lamps would help)
The hotel is being let down by poor management and untrained staff, it deserves better! Despite this we did like the hotel itself.More
