We visited on a cold evening in March. The restaurant had a bright and cosy feel with candles around, adding to the atmosphere. The service was friendly. We had the steak and ale pie. It was really good. You could really taste the ale and the pastry top was not too thick. A warming meal on a cold evening

My husband and I managed to get a table on Tuesday, usually its busy and you have to book.
We shared a sharing starter of meat, cheese, olives, hummus and bread.
We then had the haddock and chips which my husband enjoyed. I had chicken fajitas, unfortunately I found the chicken very overcooked and dry even though it was in a tomato sauce.
You are a little rushed but overall it was a nice meal.

Visited this little place, candles on the table and had a ‘cosy’ feel. I ordered the garlic chicken with mashed potatoes, really good portion size and really tasty, the garlic sauce was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork burger and he really enjoyed it. Both meals had great presentation. Staff were attentive and helpful .

We nearly overlooked Hylton’s and went elsewhere but, looking for somewhere to eat in the evening, we were attracted by the seemingly pleasant atmosphere with candles and the cosy appearance inside.
We were very glad we gave it a go and our visit turned out to be one of the highlights of our Lakes holiday.
It was excellent in every way and there was a very relaxing and intimate atmosphere with candles and music providing a good experience.
We were nicely tucked away in a quiet spot with plenty of room and a good view of the rest of the restaurant.
Our meals were excellent. They seemed, on the face of it, pub-style choices in Lancashire hot pot and steak and ale pie but they were actually served in what we would describe as a restaurant quality standard.
My pie was tasty with plenty of gravy inside and decent pieces of meat. It was served with quality chips and vegetables.
The Lancashire hot pot was also a real treat and could not have been better.
The real star of the show was my sweet, an individual round-shaped cheese cake with a good helping of ice cream. Exceptionally good and quite big. A great way to round off what was a very enjoyable meal.
Service was pretty speedy and polite and the price was good value for the high quality, attractively presented, restaurant-standard meals we had.
We would definitely return and can certainly recommend this place.

Visited during the day as a group of 5. Service, food & drinks all 5 star!!!!
Between us we had; the mussels, camembert & chilli prawns for starters. Followed by, Lancashire hot-pot, fish & chips and the smoked baby back ribs. All plentiful and amazing!!!!! My wife had a "pornstar martini" cocktail which she declared "was far nicer than the one across the road, at the fizzy tarte cocktail bar".
