We a party of 9 travelled to the Russell in trepidation (partly due to the mixed reviews we had read and partly to trying new place) BUT we needn't have worried. Picked up early in a spotlessly clean and spacious coach, travelling down with constant updates on problems ahead from the driver. Arrived at the absolutely gorgeous and stunning sea front location. Checked in seamlessly by stand in manager Jose, party then went on to the 4 different rooms on different floors. All rooms were clean Well appointed and comfortable. My in laws paid the upgrade for the sea view and it was worth every penny. 1st evening meal arrived and we were seated by Paulina who was very attentive and considerate of our child's allergies. Sam and Connor the Bar Staff are absolute GEMS Daishes are so lucky to have acquired such wonderful knowledgeable staff. Special Gin mixers only £3.50 a glass are well worth a try.
Colin the Night Porter is really helpful if needed. Entertainment nightly was REALLY good EXCEPT for Monday Night, thankfully there wasn't ANY room for us in the ballroom so we didn't have to endure the droning of the so called entertainer too much. Used the coffee shop inside the hotel on numerous occasions and is very well priced and presented. FREE pool table for the use of (sadly no dart board) and TV s placed around reception and communal area.
We've used the Barrowfield in Newquay numerous times BUT we all agree that the Russell is our new go to Hotel.

Thank you Daishes for a fantastic stay at your venue.
WE WILL be returning asap

First time using Daishes holidays

A four night stay B & B + 4 evening meals: This hotel caters for the mature travellers:
The breakfast was very good to start the day with. Evening meal made this break value for money with a different choice of roast every evening basic but good three courses!! The staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and tidy: Entertainment catering for the mature. Bar prices are good. The hotel is some distance from the town centre and the harbour, the harbour is alive with pubs, restaurants and bars. Tip! look for Daishes special offers which are excellent value.

Room tip: Check out "special offers" with Daishes do not book too far in advance to avoid more expensive rates!

Mini Break

Hotel pretty tired, rooms need upgrading,food presentation not good, staff excellent, entertainment excellent, excursion great. Standard of hotel not as good as other Daish's hotels.i.e. I.O.W Newquay

Good & Bad

Hotel requires SLC, Room 229 overlooking sea, clean but old, service by staff good, entertainment area and evening entertainment good, drink prices very good but not too much choice of beer.
The down side was the food, breakfast O/K but the evening meal was not very good at all. We went out to eat on the last night. Other people also disappointed with the food.
invalid chairs can move around and there is a lift.

a great value for money accomadation

We have stayed at this hotel many times and we have always been very pleased with the service and the rooms. We also found the food to be better than expected a very good breakfast and a god dinner. We will be returning later in the year. This time I was a solo guest , the room was large for single and had a large bathroom with shower . I was on self drive and the holiday was very good value

Holiday

My husband and I were very happy with hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable.Food was good and wait staff was great . There was lots to do and close to shops. We will be going back for another visit
