But a tough climb back up the hill - left wife and youngest at the bottom while we went and got the car - a couple of hotels where they could have coffee / hot chocolate though.

We took a walk up to Symonds Yat Rock during the Easter period.

Was a beautiful view, really worth a visit.

However the walk down to the wye valley is quite hilly so be mindful, the walk up is not as fun!

Several people had recommended visiting Yat Rock. We'd read that the peregrine falcons start nesting in April. The visit was in the last week of March, so we were hoping we might just get to see them. We were fortunate enough to see one coming out of the nesting hole on the cliff face and circling the rock, especially for the visitors! The view of the Wye river from that height is awe-inspiring. There are several walks in the area, including one steep descent to the river, but, of course, this is followed by a steep climb back up - only suitable for those who are able-bodied and at least a little fit.

The views from the top are really stunning and allow you to see the River Wye and its twisting valley to the best advantage. Well worth a visit
