we came for a meal as a family, and they food was good, even if a couple of our party's meals did take a while to come, which could only put down to a lack of proper management of the shift, which was only confirmed to me later, when we saw a man in a suit shouting at the staff that where trying to help us in everything, and they did everything they could with what they had, having worked in this industry for a few years i know things can go wrong, but this shows me that the staff have lost respect for the man in the suit, so therefore they wont give there best for him, although the man on the bar did everything he could for us, helping with the kids crayons and sorting out there food, even still doing things for us till early hours after he was "spoken" to in the library, which clearly was not a prep talk it was more like the guy in the suit was blaming the barman for the problems, that our party could see was his lack of management caused.
could have been better if was run better

Room Tip: barman was great

We booked for 4 nights to use as just a base for sight seeing every day. The day we arrived, the weather was rubbish so we decided to eat dinner in the hotel. Well the shed/cook was trying hard to do something fancy on the plate, but didn’t quite work. The starters we chose we nice, we then had a sorbet to clear our pallets. Then the deconstructed mains came out... dry!! The dessert was ok too. So didn’t fall in that trap again. The staff were very friendly and the rooms of every description were clean. We had a view overlooking the garden and bay. Beautiful. There isn’t much ground to walk around, but had a few spots to sit. It is definitely worth a 3 star, no more. So was what we were expecting really. We had the price of dinner removed from our bill as an apology. So all’s good. Would definitely stay there again. Very handy for all the Lakes

We arrived to a empty hotel and dining room , the first thing that hit us was every table had dead daffodils ,and nobody around . We have been here many times for meals , and had fantastic food and service. We eventually ordered lunch , then to be told they hadn't got baby heart lettuce , so we had the alternative , when it came it was enormous BLT sandwich .of which my wife couldn't possibly eat ,without cutting it up. I had Thai curry ,very very greasy mostly peppers , So in all would not return , to a beautiful building ,with fantastic views over the bay . Need to get there act together ,sadly .

The hotel has amazing views and the reception staff were very friendly. On going to the restaurant for an evening meal we were asked to wait in the bar and a menu would be brought to us, we had to ask for one. The menu was basic and no imagination so we left and went to another restaurant. Breakfast is asked for poached eggs and mushrooms, I got one poached egg and half of a mushroom on a massive plate! Really was this a joke or is this normal breakfast.
