We stayed just 1 night in a pet friendly room , I feel that the hotel needs updating and the carpet needed to be cleaned. The breakfast was lovely as was the staff who we spoke too

We had dinner at the Craiglynne hotel restaurant and are so disappointed. The service was poor: the server never checked back with us after serving our food. One person ordered steak Diane but didn’t get the Diane sauce. They served her a sauce with tomatoes and mushrooms instead. My dinner was over spiced but she didn’t ask me if anything was wrong when she picked up the barely touched plate. We waited for quite some time to get our check while listening to blaring rock music. Granted, it was about closing time when we finished but we had been waiting for some time to order dessert after being ignored during dinner. So.... the food isn’t good or worth what you pay and the service is very poor.

Stayed at the Craiglynne Hotel for two nights. Of the two restaurants in town we ate at this was our favorite. More formal dining with tablecloths, etc. Had great appetizers loved the Chicken Pate. Also had the smothered chicken and the people I was with had fish dishes and loved them. The staff was very helpful and treated us well, the lemon sponge cake was also good. We enjoyed our experience here.

We stayed here for a week on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package. Our first impression on arrival was that here was an old hotel in need of a complete refurbishment. We found that to be a correct impression, however, that's not the whole story.
The welcome we received was excellent and having made our way to our room, a king double, we found it to be of a good size with all the facilities you would expect. Yes the room was a bit tired but it was generally clean. The only problem we had with the room, was, due to the creaky floorboards we were often disturbed by people moving around in the room above who sounded like a herd of elephants.
Our meals, dinner and breakfast were very good, with good choices and generally well presented. Some dishes were not available at times due to large coach parties arriving and clearly not enough of certain dishes were available for all which whilst it was frustrating was to a certain extent understandable. The restaurant staff were very friendly and did their best whilst at times there was understaffing to cope with the coach parties. On the plus side, we were advised when there was likely to be a delay, so they were managing this quite well.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay, we enjoyed talking to the staff who all made the effort to make sure we were okay. We would certainly stay there again. As for a refurbishment, well I'm sure that will come in time.
