Description: We are very lucky to have a fabulous location right on the pier of Loch Leven, which is breath taking! Our restaurant has an amazing ambience and many unusual objects dotted around giving a quirky cosy feel. All our dishes are cooked fresh to order & is bought from local suppliers. Due to this we change our menu each season. The Boathouse won Best Restaurant 2016. I'm summer months you can sit on our decking area and enjoy watching the boats on the loch. Weddings and celebrations are our specialty! We are well known for our Jazz nights (1st Saturady of every month) and every Sunday on the decking in August. Our team are well trained, friendly and informative. Dogs are made very welcome on our separate sofa area also. We have a great Gift Shop selling lots of unusual things & from April The Grub Hub opens where you can enjoy a freshly cooked Crepe from 10am till late weather permitting. We are of the beaten track a wee bit, but very well worth it for the views, award winning food and superb friendly service.

Popped into the Boathouse for a refreshment as this is a usual spot for a meet for lunch and breakfast.

We could not sit on the decking area as this is now only for food, therefore went to the Grub Hut. I wanted to use the toilet facilities but was told that these were only for the restaurant although this wasn't specified on the signage. The Grub Hut had its own toilet, accessed by key. I accessed this through a side door which is actually a corridor behind a door at the restaurant toilets. The corridor more like a storage room, very cluttered, impossible to pass if needed disabled access.

I would also mention in relation to the drinks at the Grub Hut, a large glass of wine being more expensive than George Street in Edinburgh. I do feel that because of being a captive audience at the Loch the prices are creeping up and this has put me off.

Sorry about this but at the moment the restaurant has been absolutely fully booked with so many people wanting to enjoy the decking, view and sunshine. So at times we are unable to offer coffees. The Grub Hub does offer many snacks and drinks. Our wine is a very good one, £7.95 for a large glass (250ml) This is a standard price for a wine and no more expensive than elsewhere.

Toilets are the vain of our life, we only have two in the restaurant, the hub does have one that the offices in the building kindly let hub customers use. The council are putting toilets in the car park, this was meant to be done by now, but things are running late sadly.

I hope this helps explain things. We are a small business and do all we can to accommodate everyone whatever their needs and requirements.

We visited on a busy Sunday, we were seated and told that food service would be 20-25mins from order (our waitress then corrected this to a 15 min wait). However, It was nearer 40 mins when our two mini margaritas, a ploughman's lunch and an open sandwich arrived. Food was good, but the open sandwich was served with no salad (just an open sandwich with two slices of cheese and ham in the centre of the plate, with a drizzle of balsamic dressing) and the ploughman's was small and very basic for the price paid. Kids pizzas were good and went down well.

However what has prompted this review was the price paid. Our order consisted of the above dishes plus two espresso cups of olives and 4 ginger beers. Our bill was £50. For the quality of food, atmosphere and waiting time this was certainly not a fair price.

Staff were friendly but more attentiveness would have been appreciated. If you have customers waiting a considerable time for their lunch, keep an eye on tables and come over to ask if they need more drinks, twice we had to approach staff at the bar to order more drinks and olives.

We had lunch here recently, and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The meal itself was delicious - two of us had the chicken breast burger while the other had a beef burger, and we all agreed that the food was delicious. This was followed by fruit crumble and custard, which was very tasty. The service was great and the staff very friendly.
I love the quirky interior of this restaurant - from the quotes on the walls to the stuffed animals, it has a very unique feel to it.

Great location and setting for the restaurant and good service. Bit on the pricey side for what you get though and would have to think twice before going again.

Food was good but portion sizes were on the small side and chips were really expensive for the amount you get. Over all a nice place, good food but to expensive.

Glad you enjoyed. Our pricing is pretty much in line with elsewhere who sells and cooks every dish fresh on order from local produce, so at times this does make things a wee bit more expensive. But we 100% believe in supporting local suppliers.

Do hope you visit us again soon.

We were here with friends for lunch. The service and food was good. The menu is varied but I had the fish & chips which were very tasty. As it was a lovely day we sat out and had a great view of the castle on the loch.
