“A warm welcome and stunning accommodation in the beautiful Staffordshire moorland”
Reviewed 2 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We're just home from our second week long break at Fernyford Barn, and like the first it was wonderful! Neil and Dorota and their family extend a warm welcome to their working farm, letting you be as involved as you like. For our six year old son (and us as city kids) this is an interesting and unique experience. He always looks sad when we suggest leaving the farm for a day trip! When not following Neil about the farm, there is plenty of room to play in the garden or explore local footpaths.

The accommodation is beautiful. A converted barn with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the peace of the countryside....and fully equipped with everything you might need.

Looking forward to returning next year...!

“The cleanest self catering accommodation we've been in.”
Reviewed 11 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We've been in a few self catering places in our time but this has been by far the cleanest. Usually you get grubby kitchen cupboard handles, etc. worn and sticky dining chairs, but at Fernyford everything was very clean. We stayed for a week and usually in that time you spot things that could be improved on: annoying omissions, too much fussiness, but not here. The barn conversion didn't lack anything, had some nice touches but wasn't over fussy.

It was nice to be on a working farm: seeing the animals and smelling the smells! And although it is quite an out of the way place and is over 1000 ft the weather for the beginning of March was very good: a couple of murky days but 4 or 5 sunny - even had a morning of snow! One day we did a 7 mile circular walk from the farm and other days went to Buxton, Leek. Dove Dale, Matlock Bath - all within easy reach.

When we left we bought quite a bit of meat produced on the farm which is very tasty and not over expensive. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

“Peaceful and comfortable”
Reviewed 20 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

The converted barn is very well furnished and the facilities in the kitchen are very good. We stayed over the xmas period and enjoyed the quiet remote location. The owners were very helpful and we enjoyed meeting them and seeing the farm. There are good walks nearby and its easy to drive to the nearby towns Ashbourne, Leek, Buxton. There are supermarkets in all of these places and we needn't have worried that shopping would be awkward over xmas. We also enjoyed the beef, eggs and sausages from the farm.

“Just love this jewel nestled in the Staffordshire country side”
Reviewed 7 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This is our second stay at Fernyford Farm and we just love it. So relaxing - the children play on the farm for hours, whilst we enjoy the 5 star comforts of the barn. Barney, Neil and Dorota are the most welcoming hosts and nothing is ever to much trouble. The barn is pristine with a wonderful large chess set, books and dvd's plus we had the added excitement of one of the sheep wanting to come though the window...I cant recommend this place highly enough. If you are ever planning a visit to this area, make sure you stop by here as you most definitely will not be disappointed. Looking forward to visiting again next year as my daughter is desperate to be there for lambing.

“Fabulous hosts, barn and farm”
Reviewed 6 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Our children were asking to come back again before we had even got in the car to come home. Neil, Dorota, Barney and Shimon were the perfect hosts. We loved seeing the lambs being born and having the chance to help (or hinder!) on the farm. The barn itself is spacious, warm and well equipped. It was also beautifully decorated for Easter, which was a lovely touch.
