After a recommendation by my daughters I decided to give the Blue Boar Sunday Roast a try. Great home cooked food served by very polite young staff who were always on hand to get you anything required. Scarlet who was running the whole pub was the best multi tasking bar person I have ever seen, taking orders, cash, making coffees and pouring pints simultaneously!!!

Visited here Saturday lunchtime, nit very busy. Bar staff were friendly but a little slow to serve us. The menu was a little boring, usual pub grub. I had gammon, egg and chips which were cooked well, although I'm not sure why you get a few salad leaves with it! My wife doesn't eat meat and the choice was limited. She went for the grilled halloumi burger which was tasty. Price for whole meal £33!! Expensive!

We were only in Hay for the day to visit the bookshops and we popped in here for a bit of lunch and we were so impressed we decided to go back for an evening meal. The staff were friendly, there was an impressive selection of beers and ciders, including four hand pulled varieties and the food, though simple, was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and convivial and it topped of a perfect day. We would recommend the chilli and lasagne. Three with drinks and puds at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.

Ate lunch here whilst we stayed in Hay, and have to say the experience was very poor. Food was almost certainly bought in frozen products, that were served by staff who spent more tine on their phone and stood at the door smoking than looking after the paying customer!
Really poor, and surprised that this was where we were suggested to eat by a few locals.
