The Old Ship Aground is a pub/hotel directly on the quayside on Minehead Harbour. It is a lovely quiet location with views across the harbour to Minehead beach.
Our room, a “Superior Double Room” was comfortable, with a king sized bed, wardrobe, upright chair, chest of drawers and small wall mounted tv. Tea and coffee making facilities. The shower room was clean. The shaving mirror light didn’t work and the shower door was coming off its mount on one side, (before we left we told a member of staff about this.)
The electric shower was either scalding hot or cold on the high flow setting so we found it worked better on the eco flow setting.
The breakfast was delicious and the evening meal we had on the day of our arrival was good.
The restaurant was obviously very popular with local people as well as visitors as we had to book. The menu was varied and carefully designed.
The staff were warm and friendly and welcoming.
The price of the room was based more on the superb location of the hotel rather than the room. However our windows were to the side of the hotel with a view of steep wooded cliffs, old garages and a skip full of rubbish, so when booking it may be prudent to request a front facing bedroom with a view of the beautiful quayside.

We stayed here one night for a much-needed break and came away feeling like we’d had a week’s holiday! The room was impeccable, clean and fresh-smelling with a very comfortable bed and a lovely view across the harbour. The hotels very dog-friendly as long as your dog accompanies you to breakfast and meals, which is ideal. The staff are all lovely, friendly and helpful. And the food! We ate here four times in two days (including a delicious breakfast) and each meal was superb. Especially great - the chicken wrapped in Parma ham on linguine with a garlic, walnut and blue cheese sauce, the mussels cooked in cider carbonara, and the fresh soup of the day. Also, try the organic merlot! Gorgeous place to stay, warmly welcoming, wonderfully equipped to make any stay, no matter how short, feel special.

Room Tip: The harbour view is well worth it - especially on an early silent sunny morning.

We stayed in the room with a harbour view and was not disappointed. The view was beautiful and the room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, right outside the door. We had an evening meal in the pub restaurant and the food was top quality, very well cooked with local produce. Breakfast was equally good quality and tasty. All in all good value for money and I would recommend the stay and evening meal.

The hotel was in a great location. There was good free parking at the side of the hotel. The staff were lovely and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our visit. The food was excellent, and service was brilliant. In the morning the breakfast was superb, again with fabulous service. Sitting out at the front of the hotel, you are right on the harbour, with stunning views over the bay.

It's a bit like going home, we've been a few times, but it never fails to be good. You are ensured of a warm welcome, the staff are exceptionally polite. The food is top quality and being on the 'edge' of the harbour, what more could you want. We went as a large party, but nothing was too much trouble.
Minehead is lovely and easy travelling to other places in Somerset/Devon.
