Well worth a trip fun day out for all the family.
We only went one stop (Dunster) but a nice experience to see tgem setting things up and to sit in the old style carriage think we have gone backwards with the way modern trains cram everyone in.
Would also say Dunster / Dunster castle is well worth a visit if your using this as a sight seeing day.

Went to the West Somerset Gala which although not great weather was a superb event. Everything possible was done to give the visitors as much fun as possible and the volunteers were excellent. Several visiting locomotives were seen in a GWR themed event Double headed 'Hall' class, Pannier tanks and Auto trailers were seen in all their glory and very evocative thoughts of past years. All the stations have been preserved in GWR fashion and most have small museums or exhibitions to enjoy. A steam bus was provided at Dunster from the station to the village a real surprise and so unusual. Lots of things to buy on Minehead station such a variety.
If your in the area a must see attraction and enjoy lunch on the train if you have chance.

Always a pleasure to visit this railway especially during a gala. Visit on a Thursday or Friday however and you can be forgiven for feeling short changed as many gala 'extras' shed visits etc. are only available on the Saturday and Sunday. The other problem is lack of an online loco roster that enables planning to get the best out of your visit, I think they were available to purchase on the day, a bit late then, it should all be included with the gala priced ticket. At least the diesel shed was open, and the day was very enjoyable.

Really enjoyed the day on the railway. Went from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and back to Minehead. Total journey time was 2 hours.

We had enough time in Bishops Lydeard to have lunch at the local pub.

Nice buffet car on board.
