We booked breakfast with the seals as a special treat. James, our guide, really made it special. He was so knowledgeable about all the creatures and clearly very passionate about them too. Thanks James! After a private tour, which was brilliant, we spent a couple more hours completing the kids trail booklets and checking in again on the animals. Very much recommended.

Visited Scarborough Sea Life Centre whilst we were camping in Whitby, we enjoyed the Sea Life Centre very much however, we found one of the members of staff to be quite pushy and forceful in wanting to take photos of customers upon entering. Let it down ever so slightly.

We visited on the Saturday of Easter weekend and though we anticipated it would be busy, it was absolutely packed and not easy to get around. There were so many pushchairs and it made seeing each of the attractions quite difficult. I felt it was extremely expensive for what it was however they do run a seal rehabilitation centre and it states that it costs £2000 a week to run this, so in the grand scheme of things the money is being well spent. I must say though I felt sorry for the seals in the rehabilitation rooms. 2 had no pools and looked very sad. The staff obviously know best and I’m sure the animals are well cared for but I still found it didn’t sit right with me. My son enjoyed the penguins but otherwise it probably just too busy for us to appreciate it all.
One thing I must say is the staff gave excellent customer service. The man on reception when we came in was very friendly and welcoming. Not sure I would go back.

Spent a couple of hours out of the rain in the sealife centre today, really enjoyed it and the staff do such a worthwhile job it's amazing. Watched the otters eric and pumpkin being fed and had a talk by staff on their breed etc the seal hospital does a wonderful job so please all donate a bit of change to this cause before leaving. It's not just for the kids!

Hi alisaholidays,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your visit to us here at Scarborough Sea Life Centre.

Our staff take great pride in delivering excellent customer service and they appreciate all feedback so I will ensure this gets passed along.

We're glad you enjoyed listening to the talk all about our Otters Eric and Pumpkin, they are wonderful little characters.

We appreciate any help anyone can give us towards the running of our seal hospital as it costs us over £2,000 per seal to rescue, rehabilitate & release them.

Thank you again

Crammed with people, funnelled into tight spaces with tanks of 1-3 fish, big adverts of giant crabs filled Scarborough, but on arrival, two tiny crabs were motionless at the front of a small tank (i appreciate you cant make them move) but not very inspiring.

Have been to previous sealife centres in Birmingham and thought they were really good - unfortunately, this didn't live up to my expectations and wasn't worth the money.
