We picked this restaurant for our last night in Devon and it didn't disappoint. My partner really likes seafood so it was perfect for him. It's quite small so book ahead to ensure you get a table. Very nice little place and hopefully we'll return if in the area again.

Booked this well in advance of our planned first holiday stay in Sidmouth.

When we arrived, we were given probably the worst table for two there, right next to the noisy counter, a small space, backing onto the counter/the corridor to the kitchen/toilets and I had to move to let guests squeeze in to sit at the table behind us!

The staff were pleasant enough and we managed to get moved after requesting a different table, to the table opposite which was better.

The fish was cooked well (my turbot main was £23) as were the vegetables and the portions were fine too, though I thought for £19 (a lower priced red) the wine should have been better quality.

When you're paying £60+ for 2 mains and some basic wine I expected better.

Unfortunately not the experience we were expecting.

Perfect meal for both of us. He had mackerel, monkfish in a creamy paprika sauce and the cheese board whilst I had crab and mango, whole plaice and a berry meringue. The atmosphere, food, service was wonderful. Best to book a table as gets busy in the evening
