Had a two night stay in October. Choose to upgrade to a sea view which, for a special occaision, was worth it and we had a balcony. Room was relatively small but nicely decorated, not at all ‘old fashioned’ like a lot of Sidmouth hotels! Clientele were on the whole elderly but there were some younger people too. Breakfast was good, range of choice excellent.
Reception staff were lovely and went out of their way to be helpful!
We also took our dog and they had treats for her so she was happy!
If we were to stay in a hotel in Sidmouth again, it would be this one.

We visit this hotel every year just for an evening meal and I have to say, the food has got worse and worse each year. This will be the last.

The staff are friendly (but the bar closes at 10pm what?!) so that’s not a problem at all. Speaking of the bar, it could do with investment to actually make it look more like a bar and less like a village hall kitchen facility.

The food is terrible, and quite frankly unacceptable to the paying customer. The bill was £160 for the evening meal for 8, ok, pretty cheap, but it was honestly the worst meal I’ve ever had in all my years.

Firstly, there are only 3 or 4 mains on the menu. That’s poor. But the standard of the food is unacceptable. The fish was undercooked, pork was gristly and tough and quite frankly disgusting. I wouldn’t have paid the bill should it have been passed to me.

The hotel is too hot as well. Not sure why hotels that tend to cater for the elderly are always too hot but this was no exception.

Won’t be going back.

Just come back from a two night stay at K&D. The room was very clean, the bed very comfy, the highlight for us was the staff. They were all wonderful, very attentive and caring. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Recently spent 4nights in room 117. Superb room with large en-suite with bath and shower. Food was very good. My wife has a dairy intolerance and the kitchen dealt with this fantastically. Staff very attentive whilst not too in you face. I highly recommend this hotel

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, particularly to retired visitors who are looked after with a rare quality of care and service.

Our second-floor room with its terrace and sea view was superb and we couldn't have been better looked after given my mother's mobility issues in terms of a parking space next to the door and lift, mobility aids in our room and the offer of a wheelchair to walk around town, although the high street shops are just around the corner.

A great choice at breakfast, morning coffee at 11 am, afternoon tea and cakes at 4 pm and a different dinner menu every evening meant we certainly didn't go hungry.

Thank you for a wonderful stay - the staff are very special.

Room tip: Well worth having a sea view!
