Just returned from a two week visit to Rome and I am only too pleased to confirm that Romano Pizzeria in Carlisle is the real deal ! Authentic, Roman taste and crispy fresh pizza that matches anything I've just eaten in Rome and not as expensive either. Fast, friendly service and great value for money. If you want authentic Roman street food as opposed to the ersatz stuff that masquerades as pizza elsewhere, get yourself to the Market in Luguvalium.

Food is so good here, defiantly a hidden gem, guarantee if it was on the Main Street in Carlisle people would be queuing out of the door, very friendly staff too, full of knowledge about what they are serving.

Stopped here for lunch, during our Hadrian's wall path hike. We were not disappointed. The pizza is excellent and the staff is very friendly and willing to chat, while not being overbearing while you eat.

Also funny to see how busy it gets here at Romano while the neighboring shops hardly have any customers. Draw your own conclusions.

This has to be the best pizza in our area. Can’t believe I hadn’t tried it before now! Cant complain at the prices either! Amazing!

Our first time at Romano's, but definitely not the last after enjoying three fantastic thin base generously topped 12" pizzas: two capricciosa (each with additional brown anchovies) and one vegetariana. All fresh and tasty and cooked to perfection. A swirl of olive oil and hot chilli flakes to finish. These good folk are doing a great job and the prices are very reasonable. Oh, and the coffee tastes good too.
