Owner description: Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Beauty all around any time if the year. Live in Colchester 4 years and when my bestie visited us, her was enoyght first sight to understand why we fall in love with this city so much. As a gardener i love to see how much loves are put in here, so many beatiful spots, fields are great for picknic, many picknick benches too, recycling buns a d perfect kids playing area. Just one thing, we hated to see how many tikes its tskes to fix something! For exaple-jumping nest been out of order moore than 6month allready. But as mom, i put bonus to clean, great toilets, fishes pond, ducks ponds and free museum. Always happy to visit. Highly recommend

I've been to this park two times now, both in different seasons; once in Autumn, and this time in late spring and it is an absolutely beautiful park. It's set around the Colchester Castle, and offers some nice views of the surrounding area. It's also close to the town centre and main train station so there's not much walking to get to it. It's definitely worth a visit

Castle Park is a really nice place to go on a beautiful day. Weather you want to entertain the kids or go for a nice stroll. There are toilet facilities at the top, middle and bottom of the park and a cafe in the middle of the park.
The children have a big sandpit with a climbing frame and other bits to play on and a good size park with swings, climbing frame and lots of other things in the park, they also sometimes have bouncy castles there.
The park has some lovely places to sit, under the trees by the bandstand or by the lovely flower bed arrangements.
Down the bottom of the park is a little boating pond and a lake, so there is plenty to do.

This is the flagship park for Colchester in the middle of the town, with a recently remodelled castle and some lovely grounds. Very informative info boards around the castle and a few benches which 'talk' to you about some of the local characters and other points of interest from the town. Very pleasant on a warm sunny day.
