“Beautiful apartment in fantastic location.”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Couldn't have asked for more. The apartment is tasteful with original features but modern facilities. Very close to pubs, restaurants etc. We really enjoyed exploring the gorgeous town and had a great break - perfect for couples. Owner was really helpful and friendly.

“Stay here at your peril”

Firstly, the positive: this apartment is located in an ideal location for visiting the town centre on foot.
OK... now for the truth. In a nutshell this apartment is located in what was the cellar of the house which has been converted into a one bedroom apartment. Consequently, the rooms are very dark and dreary as there is little natural light getting to inside of the property. But even worse the whole place was damp and the stone floors were wet to the touch. Even worse that that the smell of drains and smells from the sewer were overpowering and made my wife and I feel sick!
We booked this property for 7 nights as a treat for my wife's birthday...what a disappointment. We spent as little time as possible inside the apartment and could not bear to eat a single meal there.......the smell and lack of hygiene was not conducive to preparing and cooking food there.
We saw the owner on our arrival for about 3 minutes where she told us where the accommodation was located beneath her house. She did not show us in to the prorperty and we did not see her again........she went to Paris for 3 days during our stay and left us! She told us to park our car on a narrow road of a nearby social housing estate as there was no parking available with the property... not very secure!!!
On leaving ( we left a day early) we called the owner to ask for our cash deposit back as we were leaving and she could not even be bothered to come down the stairs to speak to us but told us she would pay our deposit back to Paypal after she had cleaned the place the next day.
The bed was ancient and probably the worst bed I have ever slept in (or didn't sleep as it happened) The sofa in the living room was also very uncomfortable and had seen better days many years ago
To get down to the apartment you have to negotiate some very steep, narrow stone steps....impossible for the elderly or any person with a mobility problem
Do not stay here here if you value your health and seek any kind of comfort.

I am saddened by the comments of this reviewer. They stayed with me for 6 days without once raising any of the many unfounded complaints listed above, and as far as I knew were completely happy. They left on the Tuesday evening rather than the Wednesday morning to avoid the traffic on the M25. Please consider, when reading the above, whether, if it was all true, the reviewer would have stayed in the apartment for 6 whole days and not once mentioned any of the supposed faults to me.

The bed has a new top quality pocket sprung mattress on a modern slatted base. The sofa is from Next and everyone else finds it very comfortable. The apartment has always been living accommodation and not cellars which you can tell from the original doors, windows and fireplaces. The apartment used to be the kitchens before conversion. Whilst I was away other members of my family were present to help should any problems have occurred.

I go to great lengths to keep the apartment spotlessly clean and cannot understand why the reviewer was motivated to describe the apartment as unhygienic and a health hazard. Please read all of the other reviews left by the many happy residents who have stayed with me. The only truth in this review is that the apartment is accessed via some steep stone steps, it is a historic property after all, and this is mentioned in my description and also for this reason, that the apartment is unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems or the elderly.

“Lovely flat, lovely town”
Reviewed 29 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed in 11 Rutland Terrace over the bank holiday weekend and had a great time. The flat was very spacious and has everything you need, it was clean and Victoria was friendly and made booking easy. Stamford is a lovely place to visit and the flat is within easy walking distance of the town centre and Burghley House.

“Lovely holiday flat”
Reviewed 7 January 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed for two nights. The flat is very pretty, it had everything we needed and seemed very homely. The fire was very cosy - perfect for staying in on cold nights. The location was very good as it was only a short walk into the town centre. We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay.
