Covid friendly take away of superb coffee & delicious cakes + fresh produce! A little gem of a teashop.

This DELIGHTFUL VENUE is tiny, so it needs to be run to precision in order for it to be able to accommodate everyone. Therefore, do book in advance to avoid disappointment and they will reserve a table for you. Having said this, on occasion we just turn up on the off chance there might be seating for us and when this happens, the waitresses have always been so helpful, either inviting you to a table not in use until it's booked time, or, moving you to a table when another becomes vacant. The food, cakes, fresh bread and coffee are SUPERB and a warm welcome is always extended to customers, wherever they're from. This venue is without doubt, a real LITTLE GEM in the heart of Meads Village ;-) Can't wait for it to reopen again after this Covid pandemic, we've really missed it!!!

I visit The Black Cat most weeks.
All the food is excellent. The breakfast is particularly good and the home made
soup delicious. The cakes are also very good.
All the staff are very friendly.

Popped in for a delicious cup of coffee and crumpets with butter. What a great find. Lots of local people and really friendly and lovely helpful staff. My daughter and I really enjoyed it.

My friend and I eat regularly at the Black Cat. They do all sorts of cooked lunches like macorni cheese and cottage pie etc. Just before lunchtime on a Saturday I get them to create a full English breakfast with all the usual items (not sausages however) and I add their chips....the best chips I have tasted in Eastbourne, and perhaps anywhere!
Couple of tables outside to take coffee and watch the (small) world go by. Inside is not enormous but have always found a couple of seats. This place is popular with locals for tea and cakes, all delicious. Service is really lovely.
