“Hidden Gem in the garden of Ireland”

We have just returned home after spending a week in this cottage and we have nothing but praise for this lovely little place. We were on a very tight budget and we initially booked the Lodge because it looked clean and it was a great price for the week but when we arrived we were all pleasantly surprised at how great this place actually was.
The interior is very modern and spacious but it retains a nice homely feel and still has the look of a country cottage. The building is part of a series of lodgings but they are very unobtrusive and you can only see them from the rear of the cottage which opens onto a central courtyard. The view from the front of the cottage is of the beautiful gardens surrounding the building and also the rolling hills of Wicklow populated by sheep and an abundance of wildlife including many species of birds that fly within metres of the front windows. You do feel very secluded which is what we were after and it's a great base to see a beautiful corner of Ireland.
Our stay was made infinitely better by the owners John and Mary who couldn't have been nicer. They really looked after us and helped us with anything we needed including giving us freshly laid eggs from the chickens and giving us a lift to Gorey in Wexford when we hadn't got the use of our car.
If I had to think of a negative it would be the hot water doesn't last very long and between five of us we only really got three hot showers out of the water but this wasn't really a big deal as it didn't take too long for the water to heat up again.
All in all I would highly recommend this place and after travelling to many places throughout Ireland, the UK, and France over the last few years I can safely say that you would not find better hosts than John and Mary and you certainly won't find better value for accommodation.
