This is a wonderful place to go for a corporate workshop or a weekend with your beloved. Sevice is excellent, food is fantastic and the place is worth a detour. Next time I will enjoy reading a book in front of the fireplace.

The place has a phantastic location at the fjord. You are close to nature and the rooms are rather romantic (with a lot of textiles, which might be slightly problematic for asthmatics). They offer bikes, fishing gear, row boats, etc. Both inside and outside the place is neat and extremely relaxing.
The kitchen, however, needs improvement. In the five courses dinner, something was wrong with every single course. The main course was cold, the meat filled with gristle, almost no sauce. The dessert was tasteless and frozen in the middle. The cheese and the wine did not fit at all and there were very modest portions of the cheese.
A simple sandwich for lunch we had to wait 45 minutes for tasted mould as the sprouts seemed to be overdue.

If the the kitchen improves, this place really could be marvellous.

Did one night for relaxing together with my wife. Everything was perfect expect little bit small portions in the five course dinner :-)
But this did not influence our stay as the rest was perfect for the purpose of our stay. A really nice build hotel with a very genuine atmosphere. Clean, tidy and really nice location.

Room Tip: Stayed at "Konge-suiten" and it was a great room. Maybe it should have better sea-view, but still - a great room

This is such a beautiful relaxing place to stay we had difficulty leaving. We very much regretted that we only had one night there. We had a suit which was wonderfully comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom. The setting is delightful. You can swim in the fjord, if you are brave enough. There is a little museum and art gallery and lots of art throughout the hotel.
Dinner was wonderful with each course being presented and explained to the room by our lovely waiter. The only small issue we had was, that as we didn't want the wines selected with each course, we tried to order a bottle. The waiter and I went through their whole cellar and eventually found one bottle we liked. If we had stayed an extra night I think we might have gone dry.
This did nothing to spoil our wonderful stay. They laid on a bounteous spread for breakfast even though there seemed to be only 4 couples staying.
And finally, when we did eventually drag ourselves away, the person at reception suggested a longer but more investing drive to our next destination of Trondheim. It was a spectacular (if sometimes terrifying) drive past a fjord more spectacular than Geiranger, the world's 4th highest waterfall and then on to a dirt road that sent us round precipices on the top of mountains and through wild tundra country. Thank you so much to the person who gave us this advice.
Come here and stay - just make sure they have your favourite wine on hand.

A welcoming and tasteful hotel set on the most picturesque backdrop of mountains and Norwegian fiords.

The perfect place for a relaxing break where you can enjoy fine dining with locally sourced produce cooked to perfection.

Take some time if a fine day to enjoy your morning coffee on the terrace and take in the fresh air while you lose yourself for a moment and absorb the scenery.
