“Informative musuem on the Norwegian resistance during WWII”

North Sea Traffic Museum
Reviewed 2 April 2018

The Nordsjøfart museum offers a in dept look at a specific horrific event during WWI were the Germans eradicated a the small fishing village of Telavåg after it was discovered that the resistance was using it as a staging area. In addition to displays, the museum shows a movie on the tragic event (w/english subtitles)
In addition it holds a display on the secret traffic of agents and supplies across the North Sea from the Shetland Islands, and the most famous skipper Leif Larsen
It is a small but interesting and very informative museum. The Museum provides a Audio guide and has a small cafeteria. It is also a beautiful area to visit, less than a hour drive from Bergen city

We drove over from Bergen and searched out this museum on a whim. We found the exhibit on the Telavag tragedy extremely moving and were fascinated by the telling of its history. This is a must for anyone interested in the history of the Norwegian resistance during WWII. The museum is a wonderful gem we were so glad we found! Would highly recommend.

Whilst the story of the Telavag tragedy is prominently exhibited there I think it fails to give an emotional experience. Regardless it is informative.
There are English electronic communicators to use but finding the number to type-in was difficult. Why on earth were they made so small? This spoiled the continuity of the display for me.
Very good views from the deck added to the interest.

This is the location of a remarkable story in the history of Norwegian resistance in the Second World War. The newly opened museum tells the story through film, artefacts and audio. There is also an app which leads the visitor through the significant parts of the village. Remarkably salutary. Excellent welcome from the museum staff.
