We booked two seats from Oslo to Bergen. Summer travel means late night sunlight, even in the rain. We got a sense of inland Norway in a comfortable car with good seats and large windows. It is a 7 hour trip so being in the mood for some R&R is essential. We didn't buy food on the train - just packed a meal. That was a better option. The only trick was getting from the Oslo Airport to the train station, and that was easy enough with the help of one of the tourist agents at the airport station. We even had time to walk around Oslo, and had a great route laid out by the tourist office in the train station (and used the lockers). Once in Bergen it is easy to walk to many of the hotels. Perfect for sight-seeing and relaxation.

This is by far the best option to get from the airport into the city centre. The trains go every 20 mins. You buy a ticket before you travel and the journey is about 1/2 hour. Prices are never cheap, about NOK 18 each, each way . you can't get return tickets but that's Norway. The express train is more frequent and about 5-10 mins quicker but much more expensive.

Very comfortable trains. Really great for longdistance travel. Highly recommend the Oslo-Bergen or Trondheim-Bodø lines, both lines will take you through breathtaking scenery. You can book tickets up to 3 months in advance online. I recommend buy a seat in the "Comfort" section of the train to maximise your journey. Snacks and drinks are sold from a kiosk onboard at reasonable prices (...for Norwegian standard). Free slow`ish WIFI onboard, but not available throughout the journey.

We took NSB service to/from Oslo airport to City. We used Nationaltheatret (National Theatre) station and Oslo Lufthavn (Oslo airport).

From National Theatre station it comes in track 3 or 4 and runs 18, 28 and 48 past every hour from National Theatre - weekdays mornings - this was May 2018. We took 9:28 R10 service and it was three stops and takes about 30min.

1) I recommend taking the train from National Theatre station (if you are going to airport) as the train got crowded from the Oslo Central station. Travelling with two children on my own this was a good choice.

2) You can buy tickets for NSB service to airport using RuterBillett app - it's 4zones and 101 NOK. I think if you buy not using app (counters) it's more expensive.

3) use NSB service cheaper than FlyToGet express train (runs with F numbers but more frequent service). If not for my friend saying this I would have got on the FlyToGet service as it is the more frequent and visible/ promoted one

4) if traveling with children at weekends, kids travel free in this service.

I took the NSB train from Drammen and southbound to Bo today. It was a warm day and there was very little cooling in the train. It must have been 35-40 degrees C. People were suffering in the heat, myself included. Except for that it was ok
