Probably one of the best places in Vienne, their flagship dish (toefel shpitz or something like that) is absolute must and yeah, it is easily enough for two people. It is by no means a cheap place, but definitely worth the cost.

High class place you will have to call and reserve if you want to visit it in the evening.

P.S. seriously, order that flagship main dish.

We stopped by here for a late lunch and were able to avoid a long wait. Sitting on the terrace was very nice except for the smokers and the wind which picked up before a summer storm.
The highlight of this experience is the food. It was delicious, everything that we tried. I fell in love with the tafelspitz which may not seem to exciting - after all, it's just boiled beef. But, the broth that came with the beef (and the pieces of pancake in it) was just amazing. I must have had 4 or 5 bowls of just the broth!
Eating tafelspitz is quite the experience, as it is somewhat of a ritual, so it's not a place to dine in a hurry. But if you take the time to relish every second and every morsel of the food, it's delightful!
The waiter was quite quick and made sure to help us with additional servings of the broth, meat, etc.

Excellent service, excellent meal!!!!!! Traditional Viennese fare served with more than top notch hospitality. I read some of the previous views that had a negative slant and all I can say is are we speaking of the sa.e restaurant??? Tried the traditional boiled beef and was pleasantly surprised. So tender and flavorful! The horseradish sauce was a new combination for me and delightful alone with the meat as well as with the mayonnaise sauce. My fiance had the prawns which were plentiful, tender and buttery. We each had a dessert Iced Viennese coffee with Vanilla Ice Cream and the espresso served with a berried curd. Both were a pleasing end to our meal. Pricing is higher mid range, but if you skip drinks, they would be mid priced. The wait staff was exceptional, and our waiter offered spot on suggestions for requests. All our meals in Austria have been quite delicious but this was our fa orite for restaurant fare. Only outranked by the meal we had prepared in a friends home.

It was our first restaurant when we just came to Vienna. We were very hungry and looking for some cosy and quiet place. We were roaming across the streets and stumbled upon this restaurant. Food was delicious.
When you go down to the ground floor, you will find pictures of many well-known people - musicians, football players, movie stars, etc. It's hard to believe that all these people visited this place but it's the truth. Plachutta is one the most famous places in the central part of Vienna. Prices are quite fair for a proper food and service is on a good level. I'd recommend to check this place at least once during a visit to Vienna.

We came here by advice of our friends.
It is definitely worth visiting.
We ordered topelshpitz there, one for 2 persons.
Actually the dish is just a soop with several pices of beef but the process of eating it is a ceremony.
Need to be booked in advance.
Personel is good looking and friendly, but when we ordered the dish they have not explained what is it and offered us to order extras which in the end we did not need.
