This is a high-traffic pedestrian area. I felt perfectly safe walking around alone day or night. There are big and small shops, indoor and outdoor cafes, casinos, and great architecture. Many big landmarks, like St. Stephen's and the Opera House so you can't get too lost.

Nothing out of the ordinary. If you are into the high end fashion brands, you will find them here in Kohlmarkt. Bring your credit card.

The rest of the shops are what you can find in any shopping street in Europe.

The Graben & Kohlmarkt is a very active and high quality shopping block of Vienna. The street is very dedicated for tourist shopping, but also has good restaurants along with some very religious inspired statues. Both day and night is active and full of people wandering around for a nice stroll through town, even on a Sunday when most shops are closed. I really enjoyed viewing the statue with the angels set upon clouds with their wings, trumpets, and swords that had the words engraved on one side 'Deo, Patri, Creatori'; very beautiful!

If you're in the city center, these 2 streets are a must. While it is catered for tourists and high-end shoppers, they're still worth a stroll to see the culture and architecture surrounding this area. You're steps away from one of the tallest cathedrals in the world (Stephansdom), the imperial winter residence of the powerful Habsburgs (Hofburg Palace), and the apartment where Mozart composed his most famous works (Mozarthaus). Furthermore, Kohlmarkt is the address of a top 25 bakery in the world, Demel, famous for their delicious cakes and pastries. Spend a good few hours roaming aimlessly around the city center. To get here, take the U1 or U3 metro to Stephansplatz and you'll land directly on Graben. Head northwest and you'll find Kohlmarkt running perpendicular to this street.

Lovely place to wonder around window-shopping. We were fortunate to see this both during the day and in the evening when the christmas lights came on. It is a beautiful part of the old town, well worth a look.
