An historic hotel, conveniently located on a quiet street behind St. Stephen's. Our room (in the new section) was fabulous and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the hotel staff was very accommodating. Special mention: Mr. Fallmann and Mr. Khoury. Highly recommended!

To see a short movie about hotel König von Ungarn visit the YouTube channel of placescases.com and subscibe, like, share if you like it!

Right next to St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom), in the very heart of Vienna, in a building where the genius Mozart lived, is located Hotel König von Ungarn. For some it may be complicated to pronounce the name, but the place is easy to find, with a wonderful location and old charm.  Its score in booking.com is 9.3, for a location 9.9 and both completely deserved. You can book your stay through booking.com directly here from the blog, keeping all your special genius privileges.

See ....

.... The sign of the hotel building, which says that Mozart lived in it and wrote his famous opera "The Marriage of Figaro";

.... Interior of an old Viennese house, a courtyard with a skylight and a living tree in the middle;

.... The apartment for 4 is a maisonette, the rooms are not huge, but comfortable enough, there is a closet, as well as walk-in closets on both floors, and the children's room on the second floor has a terrace.

Felt ....

.... Good service, polite staff, for my compatriots may be interesting that there is a Bulgarian who works at the reception, at the restaurant serves a Macedonian - and we both got along in a native language;

.... Thanks to the person at reception who welocmed us, we had a reservation for a family celebration in Opus Restaurant, which Icontacted the previous day by email for reservation but never got an answer;

For restaurant Opus read in my review:

WHO IS THE REAL STAR OF RESTAURANT OPUS, VIENNA?
.... This same person had listened and expressed admiration for the Bulgarian opera singer Krasimira Stoyanova, currently singing in the Vienna Staatsoper;

.... The separated from the bathroom toilet on the first floor had no ventilation, which does not seem normal, for this here half heart dropped.

Listen ....

.... The bells of Stephansdom, when the window is open or on the way back to the hotel- there are heavy, bass bells, and also smaller ones that come along later- wonderful music!

Smell ....

.... The sausages from the breakfast have some special spice and are very tasty.

Tasted ....

.... The breakfast is with very nice products- fresh and delicious sausages, cheese, bread in several variants, coffee, tea, fresh fruits and vegetables, also available very tasty goulash;

.... You have the opportunity to order a-la-minute scrambled eggs, omelets, poached eggs, sausages;

.... At the lobby bar you can order cocktails, any alcohol, drink it in its pleasant atmosphere;

.... As a compliment, they will leave you in the room 2 of the famous Mozart Kugeln, .the famous Austrian marzipan balls.

The hotel staff is very gracious, although they did not help at all with our luggage. The lounge/bar are is depressing and quite tired. The upholstery is stained and in need or a good cleaning and more likely reupholstering.
The rooms in the old section are fairly no frills but basically comfortable. The rooms in the new section are bizarre at best. Quite large and no less than a patterned carpet, patterned wallpaper, patterned curtains - and none the same. The bed was comfortable but the room was a bit over the top. We couldn’t help but wonder who the interior decorator was.
A wonderful location.

Really loved every aspect of this hotel. Its location couldn't be beat--only a five minute walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral and near great shopping and restaurants. However, it was quiet and peaceful at night with little street traffic. They also had an elevator which I can really appreciate. The hotel was traditional in a historic building with lots of Viennese charm. Best of all, the staff was wonderful--from the front desk manager to the dining room and bar staff to the housekeeping staff. All were pleasant and friendly and eager to make our stay a positive one. A real oasis right in the center of historic Vienna!
