Franziskaner Klostergarten, Salzburg
This is the private garden of the Franciscan Monastery.
We were lucky enough to stumble upon one of their “Garden Days” which are held a few times throughout the year. On these days, it is open to the public to view the gardens & buy local produce.
It was very quaint & peaceful. We sat at long tables & long stools with the monks sitting amongst us. It was set up in their gardens.
All the food was made by locals & there were stalls for cakes, drinks, & either frankfurts with bread which were eaten separately one after the other or a whole 'white' sausage cooked inside puff pastry.
The money raised from the day goes back into restoring the buildings.
The Garden Open Days are usually listed on the website.
