Just back from an amazing stay at Alexander The Great Beach Hotel! So many positive things to list, I hope I remember them all! Food - really really good! Every day a different theme with lots of choice. No designated kids section but always something suitable for fussy kids, such as pizza or chicken nuggets. There are other restaurants you can book to eat in but book early on in your stay as they are popular! The 7 Orchids Asian restaurant was amazing! Four courses with complimentary food as well. Don't eat much before you go there!
Staff - all the staff are hard working and so nice and helpful. From the restaurant staff to the cleaners who come every day. I never got the name of the lady who seems to oversee the main restaurant but her passion for her work shone through. I loved watching her join in with the Cypriot dancing!
Rooms - some people have mentioned they are a bit dated but I didn't think ours was that bad! It did smell a bit of smoke on our arrival. We had a nice big room for a family of 4. Lots of storage space. There's a fridge with a mini bar, but the staff didn't seem to mind that we used the fridge for some of our own drinks and food. Wouldn't take from the mini bar if I were you - prices are way above what you can get from the shop over the road.
Pool - a big selling point of this place is the sunbeds which are allocated to your room when you arrive, so no stupid 6am rush to the pool! Lots of beds by the pool and lots overlooking the sea. The only downside is that there is a public footpath right through the grounds, so there are always people walking past. It never felt unsafe though and there is a security guard wandering around often. Holidays can make you feel a little too complacent and trusting though, so we tended to tag team our time at the pool with the kids. Luckily they are old enough to not need us watching over them all the time. If you don't like where you've been allocated, you can ask the pool team to move and they will do their best to accommodate you. No big inflatables allowed in the pool and the only complaint from me is that the water is too warm! It's like a bath, so if you want a refreshing cool down from the sun, you're not going to get one! Go down to the sea instead, which is just a short walk away.
Entertainment - bit cheesy as is always the case but not bad. The humidity was awful when we went so huge respect to the entertainment team for singing and dancing in that heat!
Location - excellent. Just a short walk from the town. Great views of the sunset from the hotel. Very close to the sea for a swim and watersports.
All in all a fantastic holiday and would definitely book again!
