Once upon a time, There was no such a beatiful place more than here for summer in "Mediternean Sea". Even the rooms of hotels had already booked for next 10-20 years from those days. End of the war after the ceasefire that area converrted a buffer zone which is under the control of Turkish Army nowadays. United Nations have a block of apartment and Turkish Army have 6 blocks of apartments for they using as officers ' club. But it has unusual ambiance and atmosphere, gives a strange feeling and still carries the signs of war. There is a church in zone which is allowed to see for visitors but, there is also a girl dormitory where the Turkish commander's daughters accomodate. The visitors cannot go further than church if the visitor don't have army identity. It is a creepy place and is recommended place to see as much as you can see.

The site helps to remind us of the devastation that war brings about. It has the same impact as e.g. St Nicholas' Church in Hamburg, the tunnels under the airport at Sarajevo, sectarian graffiti in Londonderry and so on, and on.
For further reminders of the sadness and grief wreaked on both sides in 1974 it is possible to visit the site of some of the mass graves from where bodies have been excavated and identified in a laboratory in Sarajevo.

I use to go to my aunts for summer holiday which they had a house in Famagusta. Varosha was the main touristic attraction at that time going back to 1968. At that time this place was known as the Paris of Middle East. Many hotels , restaurants and even topless people sunbathing in those years.

A long days trip nut worth it very scary what happened having 3 hours to get out when turkey invaded in 1974 being left in same condition to this day . Its classed as a military area so you cant go in or take photos armed guards on fences apparantley 1900 people were missing from 1974 hmmmmm conspiracy theory
